Head of Xbox is 'Definitely in to Win'
"We need to do more, that's 100% of my focus."

When it comes to Xbox One, the news for Microsoft has been mixed. On one hand, the console has shipped five million units, putting it well ahead of average shipped numbers at the six month point of a console's lifecycle (it's behind only PlayStation 4 and Wii, historically). More good news came for Microsoft when it was revealed that Titanfall was March, 2014's best-selling game.
But that good news is mixed with bad news. While Microsoft has shipped five million Xbox One units, Sony has sold to consumers over seven million PS4s. Titanfall may have outsold Infamous: Second Son in March, but PlayStation 4 outsold Xbox One at the same time.
Phil Spencer, who was named head of Xbox at the end of March, has acknowledged these issues, noting on Twitter that the company must "do more" in order to compete. Even though Microsoft is in a historically good place with Xbox One, the fact remains that PlayStation 4 is beating it handedly.
In a conversation with Twitter user Jermaine Jones, Spencer wrote that he's "More excited than nervous" for E3, and that "The Xbox team is working hard to make the show great." When Jones tells Spencer to not forget that he "said you are in it to win it," Spencer responded that he's "Definitely in to win," but that Microsoft "need to do more," and that this is "100% of my focus."

Microsoft was largely assumed to regain its footing with the release of Titanfall, which is, to many, considered Xbox One's most essential game so far. However, it's also available on Xbox 360 and PC, which may have split consumer focus and diminished the amount of Xbox Ones sold as a result.
Nonetheless, context is important, as we noted in an editorial last week. While PlayStation 4 is outselling Xbox One, Microsoft can easily turn things around.
