I couldn't imagine using my One without the Kinect now.
yeah below $100 would've been great. MS really screwed over their Kinect developers tho. It sucks if devs were making games for kinect and to have it as optional for the x1 won't be great for them100 is already OD really. the jig is up, everyone knows kinect games are garbage. They're selling a 150 mic at this point
That's what they get for being cheap. All the cats who bought one without a kinect and are salty about their friends saying "Xbox, Record that" all the time and they swear they got better clips but cant proove it
With the media player dropping next month I went ahead and copped a usb powered 2tb drive and transfered All my games over.

A kinect isn't required to record gameplay footage.Wait so if I purchase a stand alone Xbox 1 without the Kinect, I can't record my gameplay footage?
Might have to invest with one that has it then.

have your xbox speeds increased since using the external HD vs. regular xbox storage? With the media player dropping next month I went ahead and copped a usb powered 2tb drive and transfered All my games over.
I made some comparison timings for the 4 Tb Fandom 7200 RPM USB 3.0 External Hard which can be purchased on amazon.com here Amazon product ASIN B00A0HZUB2[1] . When installed, the Xbox One allowed 3.6 Tb of available storage from the hard drive. This drive has a flashing blue LED that can be blocked off with electrical tape. It gets quite warm, but that is to be expected from a fanless drive in an aluminum case.

All times are calculated starting from the Games & Apps screen on the Xbox One Home screen and were closed out from the Quit option after pressing the Menu button on a windowed game screen. Some of the times are broken down from start up to reaching the Main Menu and others are from start up through going to the Main Menu then into loading an actual singleplayer or multiplayer game. My less than desirable bandwidth speed may also affect some of the multiplayer loading times.
Unless otherwise noted, I did not skip any opening cutscenes or logos animations so times can be cut even further for both internal/external by skipping these loading screens.

Currently, you can save and play games from your external hdd.Wait so the XB1 supports external HDD use now?
I thought that wasn't coming until the holidays or early next year.
Yes.
Wait can you do "Xbox record that" without the kinect?
Pin your games DVR to the dashboard, then whenever you do something worth recording, just hit the home button and open it. It'll snap to the side, then just select 'end clip now' and you can record the last 30/45 seconds! I use it quite a lot. Don't want to be shouting out 'Xbox record that!' at 3am..
Edit* You can record up to the last 5 minutes, but you shouldn't need more than 45 seconds for a single clip

Which one you get, been looking to get one too. Dont know much about the HDD brands tho.
game launches are slightly faster. Not mind blowing and they are only noticeable "side by side".. on XBL last night a friend of mine and I both launched BF4 and mine was ready like 6 seconds faster... meh. No big deal imoWith the media player dropping next month I went ahead and copped a usb powered 2tb drive and transfered All my games over.

Why did MS put the damn USB ports on the back and side of the console?
What if you want to play with a wired controller...
And now that you can use a external HDD and you have to constantly plug and unplug the external HD and it's going to be a pain if your Xb1 is in an enclosed area.
