Well I've watched enough of this game for the night. They really had the wool pulled over my eyes with this one. So many things wrong with this game.
IDK where they got the idea that making a good game somehow means adding has many elements to the point of disorientation is a good idea. Because it isnt. From this one session of watching heres what I've seen, there are so many bad things that I dont even need to solely focus on Sprint as bad as it is.
-
- You have to hold the Zoom button to stay scoped in now..... They spent two months telling us its not ADS when it is in fact ADS
- AR now has a scope on it, SMG has a scope on it
- Flinch while being shot is still in
- Animations are still here
- The AR has a faster kill time at mid range than the BR
- ADS tightens the spread and increases accuracy on the automatic weapons
- Large delay between when a weapon is drawn and being able to scope in with it. (RIP Quickscoping)
- Theres music when you die. Music when the power weapons come back
- Super sprint or whatever they call it makes sprint worst. It makes you sprint faster one second of sprinting
- Unlimited Sprint is now a thing
- ADS does improve aim significantly
Proof of ADS tightening spread.
I feel like I'm watching a dog die a slow and painful death. I'm not knock anyone who likes it, but so much has changed to the point where this is just a Halo game in visuals and title.
This is what happens when you hire a bunch of people who admittedly hated Halo and tell them to make a Halo game. They're still chasing that dream of getting people who love games like COD and Battlefield into the Halo scene by copying their mechanics. The only difference is now they've realized they need something to draw people who really have a vested interest and passion for this game in so they start using terms like "Arena based shooter" "Even starts" "Low Aim Assist" "eSports", etc etc, when even though all those things are in this game, the 60 other things they decided to add have completely masked the effect of them.
I'm sure they have an understanding of how Halo is supposed to work on a meta level, they just dont care. They just added a bunch of surface level things that originate from Halo while adding a host of other things that shatter those things to pieces. Its beyond upsetting, its really becoming like all the rest of the shooters out there.
I cant really knock people for liking it, its turning into a game that fans of shooters will love. I'm not a fan of shooters though, I'm a fan of Halo games. The most Haloish thing about this game is the title at this point. You cant just keep consenting to people who like shooters overall, it just doesnt make sense, being that this game is so drastically different than any other console shooting game. I wouldnt want anyone taking my opinions on how Counterstrike is supposed to work seriously, I dont care about how that game works on a meta level and I dont understand it, and yet 343 is doing this with their games. Stop asking people who dont really understand Halo what is supposed to be in it, and then on the flip side they continue to ignore the people who really care.
Thats not to say that this is a bad game it sure doesnt look like one, and I'm sure I'll get lost within the beta at some point and find myself enjoying it. Then I will remember that this is Halo 5 and its supposed to be a Halo game and realize that nothing around me is right. This game has strayed so far away from what the previous games were that you cant really put them next to each other and call them a game of the same series.
I just want to play Halo, that is it man, a real Halo game. I wanna WALK, NOT SPRINT with my gun up at all times, I want to be able to see the rest of the map and not have my FOV shrink to 1/8 of what it was unscoped when I am scoped, I dont need Spartan Abilities, I dont need ground pound someone to get a kill, or shoulder charge them to get a kill, this is what the gun in my hand is supposed to do, thats what the grenades are supposed to do, thats what the Melee that you use when people are near you and not 20 yards away and then you fly at them is supposed to do. I don't need in-game Spartans telling me every gun comes back. Play a map 4 times and this becomes common knowledge, and whats gonna happen a year down the line when now everyone understands that concept and theyre still doing it? It's unreal if I wanted all this I would be playing CoD: AW, a game that does these things from a franchise that does these things and doesnt try to deviate from what made them great so much that they're no longer the same.
As much as I love MCC (which really was a cash grab/consolation to appease people for when they unleash this disaster upon us) I shouldnt only have games from 2001-2007 at my disposal when I want to play Halo. I've been doing it since 2007 already, the old "You have the old games to play, so pardon us while we continue to ruin the new ones" thing can only last so long before peoples start to get annoyed with it.
"Just trust us" they said "We learned from our mistakes with H4" they said, and they somehow find a way to do it all over again.
