Yankees, A-Rod Agree To Outline of 10 Year/$275 Million Deal

To me, the Yankees come out looking like straight B******. Seriously, first the say they wouldn't negotiate if he opted out, now they do. Neither theAngels or the Dodgers would have given A-Rod the amount the Yanks will. A-Rod comes out getting his money and Boras makes at least 10 mil off of A-Rod'scontract.

^other way around buddy...

A-Rod took major PR hits by the announcement during the world series and the fact that they weren't going to talk with the Yankees unless there was $350million on the table...Boras misread the market and the Yankees officials privately said amongst themselves the ONLY way they'd entertain bringing him backis if he came to them and proved he still wanted to be a Yankee and if Boras wasn't directly involved in the negotiations...

well those things did happen so like someone else said...the Steinbrenners stuck to their guns and A-Rod wants to clean up his image, and taking"less" money with the Yanks would be the first step in doing so...

but...i still don't like dude...he didn't have a "change of heart" and realize he wanted to be a Yankee all along...best believe if any clubwould have offered 10 year, 300 mill he would have hopped on it QUICK...i don't mind having him on the team if he gets signed but he's still takingL's even as he's getting richer...

Yankees would be stupid to not take back a guy who will be the MVP and had 50+ HR & 150+RBI if he wants to play for your team.

He was being paid $26 million a year before he opted out... He just came off a 50+HR 150+RBI season. You expected him to get less that $270 million?

You really listen to what Hank Steinbrenner has to say? Dude was on a roll poppin' off at the mouth, and said something that he regretted. He does looklike an idiot now, but who really believed that the Yankees were 100% done with A-Rod?
And A-Rod is the one that initiated the contract talks. He alsocomplied with the request that Boras not be involved in the negotiations.

So basically at the end of this deal, how much money would he have made?

Not including endorsements and such, just baseball contract money.

Nice to see him retire as a Yankee (if the deal is finalized), even if it is for the "other" NY team.

Absolutly 100% false. The Yankees said they would negotiate with A-Rod because of the 30 Million dollars they lost from Texas on his contract. Hank alsofelt disrespected the Alex would not even meet with the Yankees beforehand. A-Rod realized he messed up and had to go through Goldman-Sachs just to get Hank toawnsered his calls. Alex apologized to Hank and Hal said he wanted to be a Yankee all along and agreed to take 30 million of the contract to cover the lostTexas money. If anyone lost face it was Boras. He overvalued the market and pissed Alex off with the timing off the opt out announcement. The Yankees and Alexin his place by basically doing all this without him.
