Your Next Vacation Destination.....?

Has anyone driven accross the USA?

I live near Philadelphia. I am thinking about making quick stops in certain cities to see friends (like for lunch) and others for overnight stays.

I would do Phl>WVA>Charlotte>Atlanta >Alabama >N.O.>TX>CA. I would spend a few days in Cali then drive straight to St Louis to see my sister then straight home.

Doable?

I have Cancer and want to go on an adventure

Sorry to hear about the cancer brotha

I've been thinking about doing two sets of cross country trips for a while now. Like drive from here in San Diego to Miami then flying back, then Seattle to Maine and flying back. Peep this website and play with your routes so you can hit the spots you want to see.

If you make it out to SD, hit me up and I'll show you around.

I've done Georgia to Cali.
Please take the trip, you deserve it.
There's a movie in Spanish called "y tu mamá también". Similar situation to yours. Maybe try to watch it with subtitles. I highly recommend it.

How was your experience from GA to Cali?

Going to Orlando next month for WrestleMania..Can't wait..

Heading to jamaica with the fam in october for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Not sure what to expect, but looking forward to the jerk chicken pizza

Just booked flights to Fort Myers for end of March. My dad had a house built down there a few years back and I'm the only one in the family that hasn't visited yet.

Pretty excited to get some beach time in and visit Sanibel and Captiva.

What is the purpose of the trip?  To see as many places as you can?  To see natural places?

I only ask because if you take that southern route through Texas.... you're missing a lot of bad *** stuff in Colorado, Utah, etc.  But if you're not into the outdoors / mountains / nature, it might not be worth it.

chick invited me to go to boston next month
what do i do out there

Another NTer asked a similar question a few pages back, so I just copied my response to him here:

I'd suggest hitting up Bodega if you've never visited before. Even though it's gimmicky and not so hidden anymore, it's still a cool experience. I'd also suggest hitting up Concepts, which is right in the Harvard Square area.

In terms of things to do, there are plenty of great bars and restaurants. My suggestions below and not necessarily high end, as I was a college student when I lived there, but here you go:

-Newbury Street - located in the Back Bay; similar to NYC's 5th Ave or LA's Rodeo Drive, just not quite as upscale and not nearly as large
-Mr. Bartley's Burger Cottage - right in Harvard Square; was on Food Network; can sometimes have a line, but great burgers with funny names
-Anna's Taqueria - my favorite Mexican place (local chain - 7 locations); I visit at least once every time I'm in Boston
-Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall - cool outdoor mall, with good shops and good food options
-Duck Boats
-Boston Common
-Copley Place - cool mall located in the heart of Back Bay
-Top of the Hub - expensive, but good restaurant at the top of Prudential Center
-Union Oyster House - oldest restaurant in the city
-College Campuses - Harvard, MIT, Boston College, Boston University, etc.

Hope this helps

Sorry to hear about that man. Stay up and stay strong

I haven't done coast to coast but I've done NY to FL back to NY and to Canada

Heading to New Orleans next week for Mardi Gras. I was there last memorial day and it was a zoo, I cant imagine how crazy it will be this time around. The people we did our trip last year to Thailand/China, all rented one huge 5 bedroom house. Airbnb for the win.

Just came back from a 2 week trip to Europe in Iceland, Paris, London, Rome and Venice. Great times and just good pictures to be taken. Some of my IG photos.

I liked most of your photos on IG

Can you post your route?  How long in each place, etc.   I've been thinking of a Amsterdam - Paris - Rome trip.

Sure. I'll try and wrap it up in a small blurb but I am sure I might be missing some details. So I took WOW airlines. It's the airlines where you can get pretty cheap prices because the plain offers no amenities so whatever. You have to pay to check in bags, no TV, USB port for charging but I always bring 2 spare batteries just in case. WOW usually always has a layover in Iceland. Most people will make a thing out of it and just stay there for a couple of days. I did 2 days in Iceland but I've been there before. Iceland can be pricey and food does suck but there are ways to make it inexpensive. I rented an SUV with a wifi hot spot and just stayed in the car over night. I just did ghetto showers with huge bottles of water and just cleaned my hair and face. I was on the road the whole time anyways, so getting a hotel seemed useless. Then I flew into Paris and did 3 days there. Paris has a good train system so I did the cheapest hotel there which was like $80 a night. Then I flew into Rome and did 3 days there. Rome is pretty big but also has a good train system too. Covering all the sites is actually pretty easy and doable in 3 days. Then I trained into Venice for 3 days too and there, you don't really need to see sites and all of the whole city is just walking around and eating and drinking. I went during Carnival so that added some excitement to the days. Then I flew London and did 2 days there. London is like NYC so most of that was just eating and what not. Then from there, I went home.

If I can do it over again, I would skip London and try and head to Spain to Barcelona. I found London to be pretty boring and since I live in a city, it wasn't anything I haven't experienced. Paris is sort of novelty but it's nice. You have to see the Eiffel Tower and those things but it's fun to see it in person. Rome was grungy but I liked it as well. Venice was my favorite but cause it was nice to slow things down and chill and stop seeing sites. I wanted to do Amsterdam too but my girl wanted to see London and I wanted to go back to Iceland, so we compromised.

Wow, all your pictures came out really good lol
I have pictures but no where near that impressive

^^^^I am a little nutty with pics so don't think like these came just super casual to take. My fiancee and I are personal travelers cause we would never want to torment other friends or family into sitting at places for me to take photos for such a long time. Luckily she knows it's my hobby and deals with it and for the most part, these are my souvenirs for us when we travel since we hardly buy anything when we are in different countries. But there is pure leisure traveling and traveling for photos and both are very different in experience. I wish I did more of not caring about photos and just took in the moments for myself for no one else to see.

^^^^Fongstarr

I am always on the photog thread though. You'll see the better and more clear photos there.

Anyone here follow like trending countries to go to? Like Iceland seems to be pretty common now whereas years back, it was never a spot you'd find people going to. But I've been hearing a buzz about Croatia lately. Maybe it's coincidence more so than it being trending, but it seems like rad place to visit.

Also would like to check out Swiss alps as well where the Matterhorn is. Seems like a rad place to take photos.
