btw, not sure if anyone noticed this in the description:

"The graphic on the heel is part of Kobe's signature sheath logo, designed to line up with the heel graphic on the Kobe Elite sock and form the full sheath logo. A bright, knit-in pattern takes inspiration from Kobe's Black Mamba moniker and comes to life on the shoe's upper."

i guess there will be socks readily available for the regular releases.

the pattern on the upper just doesent allow it.

Nike I.d is a great option! Pay extra for color combos you know youll like. I might I.d a pair once I play with the colors.

Now these are pretty cool. 

The snakeskin pattern wouldn't piss me off so much if it weren't for the gawd awful color combos they had for it. It'd be great if we could pick the colors for the backgrounds and scales.

This is absolutely speculation on my part:

I think that the reason Nike gave us a preview for the iD for the 8s is due to the fact that they want to test and see what people's reactions are. I mean, did we have a preview for the KDV or the LBX? As far as I can remember, this year, they had a date and when that day came around we could design and place an order. But here it's almost like they have a testing out/feeling out period. Hopefully we will get more options, and as said, this is not official word or anything, just me being hopeful haha.

i agree and think it was to see the reaction. they had everyone on their toes and overly excited for these which quickly turned to disappointment, i'm sure they have something up their sleeve, this is Nike...

Agreed. This can't be all that will be available in a couple of days. These went from a must purchase for me to "i wouldn't touch these for half-price" because of the horrible snake print upper and limited colors.

If solid color uppers are introduced upon launch, I will order. I want a new pair of Kobes to ball in but will continue to play in my Kobe V's if this is all we have at the Id's launch. Hell I am going to log onto eBay now and look for a fresh pair of V's.

I don't get why they have to do that if it was the case. Why limit to one pattern when they don't do that well in the first place or establish they are accepted on this model. If anything, patterns should go up later just like how they release them later as GR or limited. This just makes me iD Lebrons and KDs instead. I was hoping to order on the 20th along with a KD iD but looks like I'll go with just the KDs instead unless the solid upper are up on the 20th.

I too was wondering why we're getting a preview and the KD V and Lebron X just dropped. I think the fact Kobe's are not as popular compare to KD V's and Lebron Xs have ALOT to do with it. Sales for the Kobe VIIs were terrible compare to the other two. I hope to god they're testing it, because by December 20th if the options have NOT changed, the Kobe 8 iD will see a grave sooner than later.

Didn't we get previews for previous Kobe models? Like they would only let 24 people a day buy or some crap for the IV, V and VI? Or something a long those lines....And the IV's, V's, and VI's were at the top at that time. Especially if you count overseas sales.

For all we know the VII's probably sold well if you include the overseas sales.
