☆☆ 2012 NBA Finals ☆☆ The King has been crowned; Heat win 2012 NBA Finals! Bron Finals MVP.

Bob Vander Weide is retiring as CEO of the Orlando Magic, Bright House Sports Network learned Tuesday.

Alex Martins, the Magic's current president, was named as Vander Weide's replacement.

Vander Weide was promoted to CEO in July 2010 after serving as the team's president for 16 years.

He began his career with the Magic in 1992 as vice president of basketball operations.

Solid sources have confirmed Vander Weide made a 1 a.m. phone call Tuesday morning to Magic superstar Dwight Howard, and Howard thought Vander Weide may have been intoxicated. On that call, Vander Weide told Howard how much the Magic want to keep him in Orlando.

Vander Weide has been in New York working on the new NBA collective bargaining agreement.

DoubleJs hit me with a message about starting a new "Gentleman's Point Guard Discussion," so I might have to put that together soon.

- of course CP and D12 are taken out of the equation (since 1 is intent on going to NY.. and the other is eight getting convinced to go to NJ or intent on going to LA)
I said it after they got knocked out the playoffs but they should trade Westbrook for Rondo. Celts need a change and building around Russ would be great, especially if they model themselves after Chicago. Rondo fits perfectly in OKC, would make the players around him better and he stays hungry. His only downside is he can't shoot as well as Russ but that can improve that somewhat.

First off, I just want to go on record as saying that I don't think there's any way CP3, Dwight, and Kobe become Lakers. Ever.

HOWEVER, if it were to happen, I'm gonna love watching people pretend like this is the first time a team has ever done anything like that, ESPECIALLY if some of those people are Yankees fans. I know, I know… different league, different sport. Same thing, though, so it would definitely be hypocritical coming from Yankees fans.

But like I said, even if it were coming from non-Yankees fans, it would still be funny seeing people pretend like this is the first time a team has done this. There have been 'power teams' throughout the NBA's history. Period. And not just the Lakers.

Like I said though, I don't think it's gonna happen anyways.

It's obviously a great time to be a PG in the NBA, the depth is absolutely ridiculous.

Not only do you have very good elder statesmen PGs who are still playing at a high level like Tony Parker, Jason Kidd and Steve Nash, and not only do you have terrific PGs who are entering their prime like Paul, Deron, Rondo, Rose, Westbrook, while still having guys who are just picking up steam like Curry, Lawson, and Conley, you have guys like Kyrie, Collison, Jrue, Jennings, Wall, Kemba Walker, and Brandon Knight.

I don't know if there's ever been a more prolific era of any one position ever in sports.

There are no Magic Johnson's among that list, no, but it doesn't mean that there still isn't a huge talent pool of PGs right now in the NBA.

By the way, completely agree. If somehow the Lakers landed Dwight and Paul, it's through the genius of their front office, and that's it.

It wouldn't be no low-lying collusion, or even a "wedding toast."

Ska, I respect how much you hate the Yankees. You managed to mention them when discussing the Lakers in an NBA season thread.

I don't think I want to see anymore PG debate. We could just visit the thread from last year and same the same #+%%.

If I were going to entertain that discussion of the depth of different positions throughout the NBA's history, I'd start with all the centers in the 60s and 70s, forwards in the 80s, and shooting guards in the 90s.

Exactly dudes got to play some games before it becomes valid debate again. Otherwise its just KLJ saying Chris Paul should be known as Paulgod, bashing Deron Williams and making him seem like hot garbage. AboveLegit doing the same thing with Rose, and people ignoring the same advanced stats that say that Rose was one of the best defensive PG's in the league last year.

There's more hall-of-fame-eqsue players from those times, but I'm talking about saturation.

Where there's so many damn players at one position that are high-impact players.

Forwards in the 80s is debatable, but SGs and Centers I really disagree with.

So the first two responses (so far) to my 'power team' post are from a couple Yankees fans. No surprise, but I wonder if that would still be the case if my post looked like this:

I'm one of those people who hate advanced stats, but was Rose really one of the best defensive PGs last year?
