Edit - This popped up on my YT home page... When Sol Campbell buried that first goal, my heart sunk. Felt like I got shanked. I was so stressed bcs I thought the Gunners were going to win this game from jump. An eternity passed before Iniesta layed up that beautiful pass for Eto'o to score that brilliant goal. When Belletti scored that second goal, I ran around like a mad man... Shout out to Victor Valdez who had a spectacular game... I love football...
I unfortunately wasnt a fan/watching football during that time, i lost my way but luckily Fox sports showed a replay of the entire match this past year and ive watched it only twice now. What could have been if lehman didnt grab eto'o foot, it would have been a goal but the gunners would still have 11 and tied it up with sol's header in good position to still win the match. The gunners put in a good shift against eto'o and ronaldhino for the most part. I wonder how many gunners would have stayed longer if they had won, the likes of ljungberg, thierry, cole and bobby.

What was the status for a lack of a better term during the time between the two? as far as stacking up against other clubs in europe. What were the reputations/status of the spanish and english league among the other european leagues then?

Que? I don't understand what you're asking?

they were both good because they were in the final but were they expected to be there or were there superior clubs during that time that were more "elite" that maybe others would have felt deserved to be there than arsenal/barca

Barca was definitely on the come up in terms of becoming the force the are now. The seeds were already there to see. They were the highest scoring team at the time, they had the best player in the world and had been doing well in La Liga under Rijkaard but weren't getting too far in Europe. That season is were they really broke through and lived up to all the potential those squads had so it was definitely fitting to see them in the final. They beat 2 of the best sides in the world at the time,Milan and Mou's OG Chelsea, on the way.

Arsenal on the other hand came out of the blue that season tbh. They had been doing really well in the Prem but never got further than the quarters with those 'invincibles' squads. They had world class players and great defence but no real pedigree in Europe so their weren't too many expectations on that front. They beat some tough squads (Juve before the scandal and Real) and went undefeated on their way to the final but it wasn't always pretty. The focus on the CL that year paid off but it was still a surprise and they held their own in the final. If it wasnt for Jens Lehman having a moment of madness,Gooners might be been able to sing 'Champions of Europe' by now

La Liga & the Premier League were still the dominant leagues then. La Liga was dominant in the Europa League at the time too as Sevilla won that year (Juande Ramos was the manager then). Can't remember who they played. Think it was a Prem team too.

Barca won the league that campaign by 10+ points (maybe 11 or 12?) but it was the first CL finals appearance since they faced Milan in the mid 90s.

Although they didn't win the league that campaign, that Arsenal team was indeed considered elite. They weren't that far away from their undefeated season.

Modric should win BDO on precedent alone. Has there ever been an instance where someone wins POTY and not BDO?

Edit: Verde Shuttles Verde Shuttles beat me to it, apparently there has...

Appreciate the insight fellas

DirecTv and Uverse just dropped BeIN

Anyone have any experience with Sling Tv? Trying to find another way to watch La Liga matches

We really need a CB to pair up with Manolas when EDF doesn’t play with just three in the back.

Lyon could have used him today. The missed what should have been sure goals. Credit to Benitez, the Nice keeper, he was on fire today

noticed yesterday i dont have Bein sport too for direct tv smh

Excited to see what he does with Memph, Fekir, my man Aouar, & Ndombele...

Edit - Good Luck kid. I wonder if the Count has anything to do with this move going to his former team mate Mendilibar managing at Eibar?
