I remember talking to a friend years ago when the transfer of Shaqiri happened and he claimed Shaqiri fell off super hard if he's at Stoke coming from Inter. and I told him to think of it another way ($$$). If Stoke at their rainy mid-low table can compete with a world famous San Siro wages it just shows another reason people claim the EPL is the best league. If not more since he did move so obviously he got paid more.

Anyone will actually miss the away goals rule if they axe it. I don’t think the arguments for it aren’t that strong anymore.

Anything that makes a penalty shootout more likely sucks. Unlike the golden goal rule, the away goal rule is GENIUS and it actually forces teams to attack.

I don’t really buy that. The rule incentivizes the away team to attack but at the same time incentivizes the home team to defend. So it’s a wash really still a chance you won’t get an open game because of the rule.

I love the away goal rule. I love rewarding a team for being able to score in the other club's stadium in a hostile environment. I also like punishing clubs for not protecting their turf like they should've. I'd actually be bummed to see it go.

I don't mind the away goals rule i feel like it makes both legs count if that makes sense. Even winning at home 4-1 doesn't seem like its super safe due to the 1 away goal
