I’m European, have no problem with the UEFA Champions League Final being played in NYC (or some other great city on another continent)

The Champions League is way bigger than just Europe, it’s the most prestigious tournament in the world with the highest quality of footballers from around the world. Everyone watches on every continent.

Psk is right, look at the last two cities to host, Kiev and Cardiff - if I was a traveling fan I’d rather it have been NYC or Rio de Janeiro. Imagine a CL final in Maracanã. Do it UEFA.

I think it'd be more about affordability. Many Americans are used to getting ripped off for sports games and don't mind paying ridiculous prices to watch matches. If nosebleed tickets for El Clasico in Miami last year were $500, imagine how expensive the CL Final tickets would be in the US? And then add the flight cost to watch the match? Combined with US hotel/AirBnB prices in cities like NYC, Miami, LA, SF?? The total price would rule out majority of the fans for both clubs in the finals, and most people attending would be American casuals that don't mind spending $$$$ for possibly a once in a lifetime experience.

Compare it to the CL final that just happened; the cheapest tickets were around $50-70, and airfare within Europe is dirt cheap with airlines like Vueling. Even then, there were major issues with hotels and resellers doubling/tripling their prices to take advantage of the fans

Yeah we are only looking at it from our point of view. If you think this is a good idea then you should think having the super bowl in London instead of Minnesota is a good idea as well

And it isnt

Honestly America doesn’t deserve the champions league final. Everything about this country and how we treat “soccer” is *** backwards

When the Superbowl came to the Bay Area, AirBnBs that usually go for ~100 a night were going for $700+ a night, and the only way you had a chance to pay less than $5K for a ticket was if you were a season ticket holder. UEFA officials would be dragged out into the streets and slaughtered by ultras if they tried to pull that on European fans  Americans are the only people that would spend their life savings to watch a 2-3 hour sports game

why would it be any different than a sb in any major city

Some of y'all acting like the NFL is MLS

Likewise I don't think Europe should get a hypothetical Super Bowl. There's maybe 2 countries in all of Europe (UK and Germany) that even have a significant NFL following.
Whereas pretty much the whole of America tunes in to the competition. Americans shouldn't have to travel across the ocean for their biggest competition given its immense domestic popularity.

How would it be any different from when the SB is in New Orleans, Miami or ATL ? ...But yea keep the Continental finals on that continent, it means more and its better for the fans over there

sheesh croatia getting ran through
that overloaded bracket for the world cup really helped them out

Bruh

Gotta feel bad for Croatia at this point

yea, I had already lost interest by the start of the 2nd quarter. I don't even like or watch American football, I just went over cause he had been asking me to go and check out his new spot.
It was an excuse to have you over & check out the ew crib. I get it. Hopefully, they had some good eats or at least some pizza...

Everyone in america
Not sure if you are being obtuse on purpose or you don’t get the comparison
I'm being mostly facetious. You should know that by now when I talk about niffle but it is the dumbest "sport" to "watch". It's an exercise in idiocy.

La Roja played Lucho-ball really well today. It wasn't typical tiki taka ball. Instead they were switching the field & played in from behind quite a bit. Their goal in possession was to push the ball forward. They also pressed very high & clogged up space so Croatia couldn't do what they wanted to do. La Roja's defense pretty much set up shot near the center of the pitch most of the game. Loved how Lucho picked a crap ton of youngsters.

It's a shame he couldn't continue at Barca. I think he got pushed out the door not only by management but a core of the players to including Messi. I don't think they liked him digging in their ish to perform like he does. Lucho is very much the Spanish Roy Keane & ain't afraid of hurting anyone's feelings.

Today's show is a reminder why La Liga is the best league in the world.

Arthur starting today :nerd:
Tite has been praising dude ever since he got brought up

Barca have 7 games in 23 Days . He needs to show something today so valverde will have more confidence to rotate him in during this crucial stretch

I hate these international breaks at the early start of the season. It's nothing but a cash grab for FA's and it puts the players at risk for picking up unnecessary injuries.
