He's on quite possibly the worst defensive team in the league of course his metrics are low, It's not up for debate whether Lonzo is a positive defender. He's proven that through his career.

No one says guards shouldn’t give effort. That matters. But as a guard you can slap the ground and run through every screen possible, but none of that matters if they guy behind you can’t move. It’s always been about bigs defense.

Y’all will tell me Steph is the worst defender ever yet not one time has his defense cost him a title or stopped him from being great. He’s a team defender. That’s the most important thing.

Lonzo just got 50 on his head by dame. Not because he didn’t try but because Steven Adam’s plays drop coverage. Bigs are more important on defense. You can hide a guard, hard to hide a big.

Lonzo is a solid, active defender for a guard. Reads passing lanes well. That just isn't going to move the needle much when your bigger frontcourt players aren't doing the same though. They are the ones that truly impact team defense.
