There’s bigger issues than just Ben Simmons and his bball handicaps. That Weitzman article pretty much confirmed alot about what many have always seen on the surface with him. The kid is a bit of an *** hole, is surrounded by a circle of enablers, and doesn't really want to switch it up. He doesn't really think anything is wrong. In the post-game 7 presser...he mentioned "doing his job" simply because Trae Young had a bad shooting game and he had 13 assists. If you move him off the ball...he's going to *****.

His ideal destination should be somewhere where they'll let him keep playing "point guard" without aspirations of contending anytime soon. I cannot imagine why Philly would or should just run it back with a "new plan" for an "improved" Ben Simmons.
And that’s why I’ve always said Brett was the start of this mess by naming him a “PG” in 17/18 when Bayless got hurt. The plan was never for -name redacted- to run point, it was supposed to be Bayless with Fultz taking over towards the end.

Brett was scared to use Jimmy on ball because they didn’t wanna upset -name redacted-
Forced Fultz to be a SG who couldn’t shoot to not upset -name redacted-

-name redacted- not allowed in Philly. Needs to go like Wentz

Morey needs to find a way to get both CJ from the Blazers and Deacon Isaac from the Magic in the same move with -name redacted-. Get better on offense and the drop off on defense with Deacon Isaac is still to none
Need to prepare for a scenario where my son stays in Philly :hat

Phillya prodigal son, Benjamin Simmons :pimp:

You can blame the coach all you want but the player is at fault more, he's chosen not to work on his offensive game at all. That comes from internal drive as much if not more than the organization coddling him. But they definitely have fault as well, I member Doc saying earlier this year that he didn't need to shoot either in a press conference.

the article pretty much said Brett did everything he could to get Ben to work on his shooting

Brett started it absolutely, -name redacted- being who he is allowed it to become a bigger issue

Doc did what he had to do and not down his players value when it was obvious Morey was answering calls. That last conference when Doc said he can’t answer if -name redacted- could be a PG was the writing on the wall

Brett Brown didn't make Ben Simmons a "point guard". That was supposed to be whole allure of him being a #1 pick period. The idea of Ben Simmons was that he was a supersized playmaker who had primary ball handling chops.

Just like with Gobert, people are going overboard with the Simmons stuff  He can help you win a lot of regular season games, and help you win a round in the playoff

Minnesota has made the playoffs once in the last 17 years. Sacramento hasn’t made it at all in the last 15.

Several other teams that haven’t sniffed playoff success in forever, would love to win 50 games and have a shot at the conference finals every year.

Simmons has plenty of trade value still.
finally someone with some excellent points regarding simmons

@ill steelo stays with the bball knowledge

nothing but facts

There's no need for nuance in this situation though

Ben Simmons is a guy that's gotten worse since his rookie year because he doesn't care about the game.

You have a guy making the MAX that literally REFUSES to get better. Why would any organization... good or bad want that around their guys?

Yea he was billed as the "next Bron" before even getting drafted. The organization in general has coddled him to some degree but like you mentioned, he's content being the same player he's always been, he's gotten AS nods and other accolades as well as maxed out just doing that so why change.

Maybe I missed it but where's any indication he doesn't care about the game and refuses to get better? Isn't it the opposite? Haven't most places (other than SAS  ) stated he works hard?

I don't think developing a jumper is as easy as just locking yourself in a gym. There's been plenty of people who don't end up developing a jumper even with strong work ethic.

I think the issue is he's going through psychological issues. I don't think any of the work he puts in will really translate until he fixes his mental health. Obviously, I'm basing this on very little info

Fam...I don't know what you're missing here. Any team, any coach that had that pick would have said the same thing. I'll repeat:

The MAIN SELLING POINT ON BEN SIMMONS WAS = PRIMARY BALLHANDLER

Whether you want to call it point guard, point forward, point whatever...Ben Simmons role in the NBA was slotted to be playmaker/primary ballhandler.

The idea of this did not start with Brett Brown.

I don’t care about the idea. The fact that he allowed it to remain when -name redacted- clearly didn’t show any signs of improvement is the problem

Literally had to the take the ball out of his hands 2 seasons in a row in the playoffs because he couldn’t do it. Yet continued to double down on the decision because he felt like he could fix it since he was close to his family. Brett is gone is but let’s not act like he didn’t have any impact on organizational and roster decisions
