Nah Carlisle is genuinely trying to help the Mavs. He knows Luka has that coach-killer potential in him...much like JKidd throughout most of his career. Kidd clashed with the coaches on almost every team he was with. Makes sense that he sees Kidd as someone who can relate to Luka and work with him.

Imo a Simmons trade will only return pieces. You're not gonna get anywhere close to 1 of 1 value. Especially from a title contender.

Covington hasn't really worked in Portland. Collins is talented, but always hurt, and Powell is a good throw in.

Maybe Portland is a better setting for Simmons? His defense would be welcomed there especially with a defensive minded coach.
