Hahahahhahaha at you putting Melo in this group as Steph, that’s unbelievably delusional.

Melo isn’t in the class of Iverson either.
Debatable but I think it's been well documented over the years I like Melo and you don't so I see no point in doing this again

What makes you want to put him in that Top Tier?

I think for me it's the ability to generate high value looks, without even putting the defense in rotation.

Somtimes he's manipulating set defenses with his eyes, or just catching people hesitating slightly on basic cuts, or with their heads turned. I feel like only him magic compare when it comes to those type of passes.

Good point, I think I might put him just a shade under these guys in tier 2.

Chris Paul is more risk averse as a passer than Nash bird, magic ect

So you trade missing out on some super high value passes for a historically low assist to turnover rate.

I think when we think of greatest of the greats you think of the guys like magic, bird, Nash who take bigger risks than Paul.

I agree with Cp3 being more risk averse. He really cares about his ATO ratio, is super intelligent and that hurts him at times. Even with efficiency. Him & Lebron are actually really similar in this light.

But Chris Paul is by far, one of the best passers in nba history. I’m sorry. He’s up there. Bruh is a wizard with the pill & vision. One of the best handles too.

I know it’s become popular to not include Stockton on here, as sort of an “anti” to his sorta inflated assist #’s. But he was a wizard too man. Some of the reads he made, and the subtlety are incredible.

Chris just aint that flashy as often, which is why he sometimes gets left out of "best passer" discussions.
He's definitely up there. He just went to the Stockton school of passing, simple and beyond effective.
But people understandably prefer the disciples of Magic and Pistol Pete. As long as it gets to the open man idc.

Nah. I just don't think he is FLASHY with the delivery as those others have been.

He takes the risks for sure.

Also, I was going to bring up the disrespect of not included the ALL-TIME LEADER in Assists. Not sure how that even happens.

So you don't have any actual supporting evidence for what you are claiming?

Got you. Just your memory.
t
I think you are being a little obtuse about this, but if you insist.

Backpacks had good stuff on this.

"Assists at the rim are a decent indicator of these kinds of high-leverage, quality dishes, and incidentally, Paul’s layups assists (as a percentage of his overall assists) were below-average every year he was a Hornet."

Then you got goofy stuff like this.

Yeah so the problem is where? 🤣

They play the games to win. I watch and follow to be entertained.

I haven’t watched WWF in years (always gonna call it that idc, idc) but what if they cut out the promos and interviews and just made you watch people fake hitting each other?

Risk averse in he won’t take chances with like a hit ahead off a made basket....or some of the as you say...flashy passes that have a smaller window. He’s very controlled with how he plays. Which is a great thing...but also hurts him.

There is a Stockton counter-contrarian sect....that paints him as a simple passer, who just fed an all time great scorer :lol. Been noticing that lately.

RE: CP3 - The flashy passes with a smaller window I can agree with for sure.

Whether you think Stockton is a simple passer or not, he is the ALL time leading assist man of all time, no way he should be left off.

Also, why isn't Jason Kidd in the conversation? Not sure how he isn't in that Top Tier.
