Actually, they really are. The sockliner is pretty soft. The whole shoe in general is solid. No discomfort with prolonged wear.

Are you asking about the collar or insert? Collar is soft leather, but the insert is a gold mesh. Also soft. I like it better than the leather inserts in the French opens.

Mine are worn once, wing tips still white no yellowing.

Be careful when cleaning the midsole, I was cleaning my pair and noticed the paint rubbing off. Enjoy them, IMO they age well
