🦉The Official Drake Thread6️⃣ - Drake & PND Album Fall 2024

I've been coming back to "That's How You Feel" a lot lately because the way he ended each line with the same word (or a homophone) that he starts the next with has been stuck in my head.

Plus that Nicki sample might be harder than damn near anything she said on Queen.

"I'm just in the cut sitting siiide-ways
Way that you looking allll the time
Time gets to ticking and it takes a toll
Told you, I couldn't really draw the line
Line ringing, saying that you told them things
Things that you coulda keeept inside
Sidetracking me when I was good to you
You were somebody I would stand behind"

Has enough time passed where we can collectively admit that Duppy was a better track than Adidon? :nerd:

It was, Pusha just struck with more shock value

It was people who already didn’t like Drake that hyped the song up even more

Duppy had way more facts in it but that doesn’t matter in todays time

Adidon was on some scorned chatty patty ish

Facts. I give it to Push. Take the fact that people weren’t sure if he’d respond (in the same vein as Meek) and compound that with the topics covered in Adidon... yeah. Push had a greater shock value.

But breaking stuff down, I don’t care if Drake’s parents never got married. I don’t care if Drake has a kid. Don’t care if he chooses to share his child with the world or not; that’s his prerogative. I always thought it was funny how people felt slighted/offended by the ***** not going public with his child. The sense of entitlement to a celeb’s personal life displayed by some people was comical af to me.

The song undoubtedly did damage. That black face **** still has me looking at Drake with the side eye.

But Duppy bar’d Push and Ye up. Son put the ghostwriting/Q Miller stuff to bed, and dropped an over all better song IMO.

Adidon was definitely a chin check, but that exchange wasn’t the KO that people tried to make it out to be back in June.

"Song" wise it was always better but given the fact it was a battle of does tracks so my was more potent with the disrespect.

Never was feeling that weak OJ beat he used.

Also lets be honest, nobody thought it was a diss that Drake had a kid or if he shared his child with the world. No need to play dumb. Drake mentioned Push's fiance/wife so Push exposed the fact that Drake knocked up a butterface porn star/escort that he is ashamed of. The intent was clear in clapping back with those facts. No need to go that route to downplay ppl's reactions and responses to Adidon.

That joint had Drake copping pleas multiple times about his kid and blackface. His damn parents had to speak on it

Also that's another issue with Duppy, it's a better diss towards Kanye than Pusha. Its like when Jada and Beans went at it initially.

Even in the moment, I thought Drake won. People needed him to lose something, so all the energy was there for Push, but, as pointed out, he said a ton of stuff that I couldn’t care less about. It’s an angle that would only work on Drake, I suppose.

The blackface picture was the most damning thing. Besides that, he just said things that were weird to say from one rapper to another. It worked for Drake though, I guess. Duppy was far better to me though.

I’ve honestly only played adidon once. Didn’t feel like there was any replay value. Not to mention, I already knew Drake had the kid, so this wasn’t shocking to me. Only the 40 diss had my eyes open up. His rapping on it wasn’t that good. Should’ve still been in the vein of Infrared or something.

Duppy Freestyle got a lot more spins from me because I like hearing Drake on Boss talk mode. I still play his Diplomatic Immunity track as well.

People can't stand him winning, hell there were people on this forum saying his run was done at the beginning of this year
They also said there were no hits on this album.
It seems like folks can never be objective with Drake.

Duppy was the better record, Adidon was better execution. Pusha checkmated him, but I don't believe Pusha bested Drake lyrically at all nor do I believe he's the better lyricist.
