2pm can't come soon enough...

Here's to hoping that I haven't wasted my pre-conceived joy on somebody else's commit!

That could just as well work against UT if dude is trying to get the full college athlete experience.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaangit. We're still set at the QB position for the next few years...but it's always good to have guys in the wings.

Clemson has jacked two recruits away from Oregon..gaaaahhhhhhhhhh. Best of luck to both McNeal and Boyd.

Guess our coaches brought the armored trucks all filled up to VA yesterday.

Makes sense.

He was NEVER gonna go to Oregon.

And has a better chance for early PT w/ Clem$on than O$U

Offensively, Oregon's recruiting class is hurting...baaaaaaaaad.

Defensively it's

but seriously....

You could tell from his parents comments that it really just came down to distance with Oregon. I guess they had said they were willing to move out there, butit sounded like the more they thought about it, their hearts weren't in it.

I had thought it'd be OSU, they were telling him he'd be the star. I guess part of the difference was that Clemson doesn't have anyone proven likePryor, though Willy Korn was highly rated he's had injuries. New offense, Tajh will have the same shot Korn & Parker do and will be learning whateveris installed with them.

Now we'll see if it stays the same a week from now...

Trooper Taylor is back in the SEC....

named the Asst HC & WR Coach @ Auburn

!%*# im mad late, but no one ever specified his position.

Damn good pick up for Clemson

I'm not going to be salty about this

I don't know how you guys feel about it and maybe I'm the only one but parents need to let their kids make these decisions. It seems as if the parentsare making him (Boyd) stay closer to home. I don't follow off season CFB but I was reading the thread and all news posted and it seemed that he was goingto be Duck but for him to all of a sudden wear that Orange and Purple just seems odd as it came out of nowhere.

I think there was an interview where Boyd himself said that he'd get homesick in Oregon...

idk though.

Do the ducks really only have one Offensive committ right now?

Another interesting fact about Boyd's recruitment...per Ohio State insiders on their Scout board...

1. Boyd committed to Ohio State on Sunday...

2. Boyd asked for and received #10 (Troy Smith is/was his favorite player)...

3. Boyd reaffirmed to Ohio State THIS MORNING about his commitment...

4. Oregon's Scout insiders are basically telling a story similar to the one Ohio State's insiders are...except with Oregon receiving the commitment, obviously.

No question about it, Boyd was playing both staffs (OSU and Oregon). I don't really get all bent out of shape about where a 17-18 year old kid chooses toplay college football, but I don't agree with how some of them (not just Tajh) go about the whole recruiting process. Oh well...best of luck to Tajh andnice pickup for the Tigers.

Nice work Clemson! My 2nd fav. college football team's class lookin real nice as of late, with McNeal and Boyd.

It does get annoying when recruits seem to make decisions based on what their parents want. The closeness to hom factor is never to be questioned though. Welost McGuffie this year, a kid who bled maize and blue because of family problems.

Closing the class with Denard Robinson and Adrian Witty is pretty good. Also feeling good on JeRon Stokes (coaches in his house right now). Still fighting forSam Montgomrey as well. Those 4 make this class real good especially for getting a late start on this class for this staff. Plus, there is one more guy stilllooking at Michigan and this kid is an absolute stud at OLB. He is from the south and reminds me of Shawn Crable

Hmm good info homie..
Im not stressin it. Good luck to him. Hopefully he'll help Clemson get over that hump.

Apparently Boyd felt that Oregon's spread wouldn't prepare him for the next level.

I'm not sure what the evidence is with statistics or anything about spread offense quarterbacks and the "transition" to the NFL, but I suppose Ican see how that would factor into a decision.

He needs to worry about making the transition to college before worrying about the NFL.

Good point to bring up. How many times have we seen hyped 5-star recruits not make that transition? You have to wonder how many of these recruitslook seriously take an in-depth look into academics and things other than their possible pro potential. I think alltoo often college players waste that free education that they're given. In talking with my parents, they say that college players can't complain aboutnot being paid because they're being given a free education at a quality university (sometimes an Ivy university). At this point in my life, I would begrateful for any kind of money donated towards my pursuit of higher education! These recruits need to remember that there is still more to life than footballand that they should focus their efforts in schooling as well...

And that's all I have to say about that....

Our only legit TE tore his ACL so if either Richardson or Charles picked Miami they're guaranteed to start from Day 1.

I agree in general.

If you listen to Tajh Boyd though, he talks about his ability but one of the first things he said at his press conference was that he liked the academicsupport Clemson provided. I can't speak on OSU or Oregon, but I know Clemson's Vickery Hall is regarded as one of the better student-athlete supportcenters. I know of a rival school that didn't really have the same type of structure that modeled theirs after Vickery Hall. Clemson is a top 25 publicuniversity, so it's not like it's a bad school. I don't know where we stand right now, but it was pretty high recently in terms of footballplayers graduation rates in BCS conferences, IIRC. Clemson has an academic review committee that has turned down more than a few high profile recruits whowouldn't qualify academically, not even allowing them to sign an LOI (or I believe have one on the table). It caused some issues because of the resourcesthat our coaches were spending recruiting these kids only to find out after the fact that they wouldn't even be allowed to sign regardless.

People choose to focus on what these kids say about the athletic part of it, their ambitions athletically (aside from Myron Rolle)...but that's whatthey're recruited for and that's typically the only reason they're getting a free education. Manywouldn't gain acceptance otherwise and a shot at the pros is their focus. If you had a chance to watch the press conference (I don't know if it wasposted other than Clemson's site), he does say "for the next 4 or 5 years"...it's not like he's saying 3 years and I'm gone, therewas a Clemson commit who basically said that at his press conference last year and he was about to play behind two high profile guys.

Boyd sounds like a very confident kid, maybe cocky. It seems like he's trying to be the best...some of it may be due to what's he's been toldthroughout this process. Apparently OSU was telling him he'd get PT alongside Pryor next season, easily the mosthigh-profile recruit from last year. Part of the problem with recruiting in general now is that every step of these kids lives is documented by media and paidattention to by you and I. I would imagine that there are a lot more egos now in general with the way athletes and celebrities are glorified and followed, this is only fueling the fire.

I feel like I'm getting tired of talking about Boyd in this thread, he was the last highly ranked QB to commit and had a crazy recruitment, so it'sunderstandable that he's gotten attention. I'm excited we got him, a little surprised but Swinney and Napier are both top recruiters. High energyguys who kids seem to get along with and can get excited by, not it just remains to be seen what happens on the field. Hopefully we're headed in the rightdirection, I'm glad Spiller will be back and I'm pretty confident Napier and Swinney will actually use Spiller, unlike Rob Spence who was wasting histalent. It's all up to the OL at this point.
