'09 COLLEGE FOOTBALL OFF-SEASON THREAD-recruiting/Coaching Changes/Transfers

Yall kiddingyourselves if u dont think looking towards the NFL wasnt one of the main reasons BB chose Tennessee.
Of course that is the reason why he went to UT. I'm just saying that I don't think the deal breaker wasthat "the spread won't prepare him" because if he's got the tools to be an NFL back then he's going to be an NFL back, regardless of thecollege offense he ran in.
No he was a I back playing out of position his whole career and it didnt affect him because he always had the pro back skills.

That's the main point I'm trying to make.

If he stepped up to the microphone and was like "I didn't choose Oregon because Eugene is a podunk little town that is the neighboring city to themeth capital on the West Coast and frankly it smells kind of funny around 8 am every morning for some inexplicable reason," I'd probably nod my headand be like "well that makes sense". Even if he said "I won't win +@#+ in Eugene," I'd be like "hmm smart kid".

All I'm saying is that I don't think that was the deal breaker. Oregon has been out of the picture for a minute.

and you're still not understanding what Im saying. its about $ and draft position
scenario 1,
he puts up 1500 yrds rushing his JR yr in a spread offense ...

scenario 2,
he puts up sick numbers in a pro style O ...

which do u think gets him drafted higher, in turn earning him more money?

That's what I was saying in the first place, I guess I'm just ignorant about that because I don't see the difference.

FA was the second back taken in the draft last season, none of the other 10 or so teams needed a RB (besides Oakland who picked McFadden and maybe Cinci), doyou think he would've been picked over McFadden if he came out of a pro style offense?

Yeah, kinda sucks not being able to pay for recruits with cocaine anymore, doesn't it?

I'd be pissed too if every year I had to live off the past... sitting around all butthurt, waiting for the first opportunity to lash out at someone withall the built up frustrations because my school can no longer purchase recruits with a dime special and a promise.

Don't compare Miami to Tennessee... at least they've done stuff recently. Miami is just living off a name, which is slowly fading into oblivion.

No, not pissed at all. What I was tellin dude was no reason to jump up and down on Tennesse when we in the same spot.

Elite level programs in a down time. I wouldn't disrespect a team like that. They've mattered to college football.

Not every team can say that.

I'd be salty too if my team didn't even have a past.

History repeats itself.
thats the problem. UM fans always livin in the past. we talkin about now and the future. Just who is UM's OC? Coop and Javaris is really thrivin in that Offense boy I tell ya ...
ohwell.gif

Travis henry and jamal Lewis were garbage

and the fact that Tennessee is gonna be running the same O that USC ran with Bush and Lendale
laugh.gif

U may be confusing Phil Fulmer and his Offense with the new one being implemented that you have only seen in USC
At Miami there's no guarantee he'd even crack the rotation. Oregon ain't ever winning +*%*. UT was better.

laugh.gif
laugh.gif
OK, we get it. yall miami fans think he's some huge scrub now that he that he's not in Coral gables.
too bad NONE of yall were saying this last yr when he committeed.
None of yall said that during his Army AA l practices or the game where he was clearly the best player.
laugh.gif

Travis Henry and J. Lewis aren't a part of "the past" ? Kiffin doesn't have anywhere near the talent at UT he had when he wasat USC right now. And it may never....that team was loaded. So who knows if Kiffin can even recreate that for a team that isn't loaded with USC '05type talent. His only other experience is with the Raiders garbage offense. CLK hasn't proved anything yet so all this "future" talk is justhypothetical.

I never called anybody a scrub. Don't remember anybody doing that actually. But I do remember saying he wasn't just gonna waltz right into the startingspot over the backs we have now, and coming in. Lamar Miller put up similar numbers to Bryce in Dade County of all places. Bryce even went to one ofLamar's games because he wanted to "support his future teamate." Maybe he got scared when he saw Lamar play? Who knows?
laugh.gif
I just don't assume players are gonna be great because of recruitingrankings.
eyes.gif

U asked about the past, I responded with what you wanted to hear.
U aint gotta convince me CLK hasnt dont anything talk to Bryce.
His decision wasnt based on the past, it was based on what is to come. and that "hypothetical" future got the one of the top recruits , if not thetop recruit out of a Miami Committ and into a tenn. signing.

Maybe he got scared

thats another Miami whammy for yall.
He's scared of competition because he de-committed....
But the school he signed with signed two other 4* Rbs the same yr and has incumbant Jr and Soph RBs ahead of him on the depth chart already.

Who here is assuming he's gonna be great because of a recruiting service?

I'll give yall credit down south, yall throw crazy spin on a story tho
pimp.gif
that was damn near a curveball

Kid is worried about competition.
laugh.gif
I've read recruiting articlesfor the past year about him saying what the a team's current RB situation will have a big impact on his decision. No telling what CLK promised that dude inregards to PT whereas you know Randy ain't promising PT to anybody. Oku will give Bryce a run for his money but he ain't Lamar Miller.

The Miami Hurricanes lost their swagger once they stopped dumping a pound of cocaine on the training table during warm-ups.
Oregon never had any. I swear you gonna make me hate Oregon the way Fr3sh made me hate UT.
laugh.gif

I'm already laughing at Chester vs. CP

I too don't see the difference between putting up big rushing numbers in a pro-style vs. spread offense. 1,700 yards is 1,700 yards. Who's to say thatthe spread doesn't increase a running-back's longevity because he's not poo-pushing on every down into the linemen in front of him? Less hits meansmore carries in a career, right?

That's why the NFL sucks. EVERY offense is the same. Sure, teams may throw more or run more, but it's all from the same cookie cutter offense.
College Football >>> NFL

How is 1700 yards in a pro-style offense not more impressive than 1700 in the spread?

Point blank, it ain't even about running backs... Playing in a pro-style offense is a boost to draft stock regardless of what position you'replaying...

Pro-teams don't run spread. Why would they want a RB if they don't think he can be effect in a pro-style? It's just like with QB's. RB'scan be products of their systems in the same way QB's can. But if you're playing in a Pro-style in college then teams already know your ability to playin a pro-style, as opposed to playing in a spread because then there is that unknown.

How is that hard to understand?

Running off guard/tackle behind fullbacks and tight ends is a lot different from taking draws & dives with 4 wideouts all the time.

Damn, if i weren't so lazy to type whats on my mind i would jump in on all this lol

College Football NEEDS to start!

Percy Harvin looked jacked at UF's pro day......he will be a top 15 pick bet.

CI ran pretty well on grass, looked like he could cut.......should go early in round 2.

BTW, I'm just saying this stuff regarding their college career.
We'll see what happens. Rivals/Scout are pretty accurate with the top few players. Not 100%, but pretty accurate.

Yea, dont judge college players on their NFL careers.

Ernie Sims pretty Good?
he was All American. He was AWESOME in college

Darrell Scott turned it on late last yr

and I kinda feel bad for Lo Booker cus he played under jeff Bowden's regime. He had no chance to succeed

Y'know how everybody has been breaking off faster times at their Pro Day?

NoSho ran a 4.63 today...

Damn...Beanie ripped off a 4.38 and a 4.39 at OSU's Pro Day. Obviously, he doesn't have that kind of speed (OSU has a notoriously fasttrack), but he did improve on his combine time.

Anybody seen this?
Tebow's speech immortalized
Doug Finger/Staff photographer

Florida quarterback Tim Tebow's famous press conference speech, following the Gators' 31-30 loss to Ole Miss during the 2008 football season titled "The Promise", has been inscribed on a plaque and placed outside the Bill Heavener Football Complex.

Knute Rockne's "Win one for the Gipper" speech may seem old and faded now, but it stands the test of time.

Tim Tebow's inspirational speech apparently will go down in history as well.

Florida recently put up a plaque outside the front entrance to the new football facility at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium with Tebow's speech inscribed onit.

Tebow's speech, of course, was the emotional promise he made after the Gators were upset by Ole Miss last season.
