Sporting News Today reports it would cost Notre Dame $18 million if they fired Charlie Weis this year. That would be just the buyout.
They further speculate the Irish would then need at least $3 million a year to get Coach Kelly or Coach Johnson at Georgia Tech and maybe as much as $5 million a year over five years to lure Urban Meyer to South Bend.
They conclude that a coaching change would cost the Irish administration between $33 and $43 million during this tough economic time.
Matt Mayes of SNT says it could still be done, but a change at the top of the Irish football porgram would be incredibly costly.
I don't think anybody is saying it was guaranteed, but come on, how many late drives move right down the field? They start playin a littlesofter coverage not tryin to give up the deep ball/TD... Happens all the time... So you can't really just assume they WEREN'T gonna get that TDOriginally Posted by thacamel
Iron Man,
You consider having to go 70 yards a short field? Hm. Plus they had no timeouts, Jarrett "Pick Six" Lee in at QB, Charles Scott was out, and they had to score a TD to win the game. Plus they had only scored 1 TD all game.
Yes, it was definitely an interception.
Yes, the refs screwed LSU.
But.....everyone is making it out like LSU would have won the game. Although possible, it was very unlikely. Plus, as said before, it was Jarrett Lee. How easily we forget how bad he is
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Police were investigating an armed robbery Thursday morning on the University of Tennessee "Strip."
It happened just before 2:00 a.m. in the parking lot of the Pilot on the corner of Cumberland Avenue and Volunteer Boulevard.
Knoxville Police haven't released many details.
Reports from the scene indicate two black men approached the victim in the parking lot and used a small semi-automatic handgun to hold him up. They then fled south on Volunteer Boulevard in a powder blue-colored sedan. At least one of the suspects was described as wearing a black University of Tennessee T-shirt.
A KPD cruiser apparently spotted the car on Lake Loudoun Boulevard moments later and pulled it over on Neyland Drive at the KUB water treatment plant. At least three people inside the car were taken into custody and transported back to the Pilot to be identified by the victim.
A Volunteer TV News photographer on the scene captured the suspects while they were being identified. At least one of them wore a black University of Tennessee t-shirt with an orange Adidas logo and the phrase "impossible is nothing."

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Three UT football players are now facing charges of armed robbery.
A member of the UT Sports Information Department confirmed to us that Nu'Keese Richardson, Janzen Jackson and Michael Edwards were arrested about 2:00 o'clock Thursday morning.
The incident happened at the Pilot convenience store on Cumberland Avenue.
Police say the men were armed with a small semi automatic pellet gun and robbed a person in the parking lot.
Police arrested them a few minutes later.
According to KPD spokesman Darrell DeBusk, the incident began at 1:43 a.m. at the Pilot station, 2218 Cumberland Ave., when officers were alerted to an armed robbery in progress.
When officers arrived, they found Corey B. Zickefoose, 20, Benjamin J. Everett, 19 and Corey M. Smith, 18, claiming to have been accosted by two men wearing black hoodies.
The trio told officers they were sitting in a 1998 Hyundai Elantra at the convenience store while a friend was inside the business. As they waited for their friend, a man opened the drivers door, brandished a handgun and stated, "Give me everything you have," DeBusk said.
A second man also wearing a black hoodie then opened the passenger door of the Hyundai and reiterated to the trio, "Give us everything you've got," DeBusk said.
The victims said they showed the two men their empty wallets and said they had no money. A third man then approached the car and told the other two men in hoodies, "We've got to go," DeBusk said.
The three men got into a 2010 Toyota Prius driven by a woman and fled the area.
Officers stopped the car on Neyland Drive near Leinard Lane after it had been seen near Gibbs Halls.
Police found Edwards, Richardson and Jackson in the car, which was driven by Marie Montmarquet, 22, DeBusk said.
A search of the Prius revealed a air-powered pellet pistol under the rear seat. Two black hoodies were seen in plain view in the back seat, DeBusk said.
In the car's glove box police found a marijuana grinder. Police found a clear plastic bag of suspected marijuana in Montmarquet's jacket pocket, DeBusk said.
Montmarquet told police the pot grinder and pot found in her jacket belonged to her, DeBusk said. She was charged with simple possession of pot and possession of drug parapharnalia.
The suspects were taken to the Pilot station where the three victims identified Edwards and Richardson as the two men in black hoodies who demanded their wallets.

Someone on here a few weeks or so ago mentioned a possible TCU/UCLA matchup at Cowboys Stadium next year, and it looks like that might be coming true because Tech backed out of their game with TCU due to TV scheduling.

To accommodate the ABC or ESPN broadcast of the Texas game, a previously scheduled game against TCU will be moved back to a future schedule.
With these recent happenings, TCU now has an open date in their schedule. There have been rumors swirling for the last month or so about a TCU/UCLA matchup at Cowboys Stadium. This looks to be the most reasonable guess at this point, especially since UCLA was scheduled to play Texas on September 18[sup]th[/sup] at Cowboys Stadium, which now isn't happening because Texas and Texas Tech will play that weekend.
