^ There you go. Those are your words. I wasn't even necessarily referring to you or any SC fans on this board. Dudes were trying to laugh at Pete leaving yesterday saying this happens every year regarding him and the NFL. Then, once he's officially gone they say all the recruits will stick...I would call that being in a bit of denial.Originally Posted by EnEyeKayEe

And these USC fans seem to be in a bit of denial regarding some of their players. Of course USC's insider boards are gonna act like they're all still locked up for now...*shrugs*
SC fans are in denial? You guys probably won't believe this but SC had Seantrel, Lache, Powell (happened this week), and Jeffcoat (gave silent back in Nov) until the PC news. It's all surfacing now from solid sources. Prater was giving hints all week.
Like I mentioned last night, Seantrel is a Buckeye and Powell is a Gator. Don't know what's going on with Lache and Jeffcoat, but I'd imagine they're gone as well.

SAN ANTONIO - Five-star defensive end Ronald Powell is headed to Florida, the Gators pulling a major coup by beating Southern Cal for one of the best players in its own backyard.
Powell announced his decision Saturday at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and it's a huge pickup for Florida, which had made the Moreno Valley (Calif.) Rancho Verde standout a top priority for a long time.
Even with coach Urban Meyer's status unresolved - Meyer will soon take an indefinite leave of absence because of unknown health issues - Powell felt comfortable enough to commit to the Gators.
Powell became the third prospect to commit to the Gators on Saturday.
"There was a point in time where that was a let down," Powell said of Meyer's health status early this week. "I got a chance to talk to him and see where everything was at. It was more than Urban Meyer on why I decided to consider Florida. Just like USC, there's more to USC than just Pete Carroll. I'm deciding on those two universities.
"(Meyer) told me what he was telling everybody else, that he's not going anywhere, he's going to be a Gator. He said there are little health issues and a little stressing and other than that he's going to be a Gator."
Rivals.com rates Powell as the best weakside defensive end, the top player in the California state rankings and No. 5 in the 2010 class. Powell has been so impressive at times this week that there is at least some discussion that he can move up even further on the list.
"Not only is he a tremendous overall athlete with great body structure, he can play either strongside or weakside eventually," Rivals.com recruiting analyst Barry Every said. "That's what I like about him. Everybody is going to say he's definitely a weakside guy because he's so fast off the edge, but he's strong and he has a frame where he's going to get bigger.
"He can be an interchangeable defensive end. I don't think there's any doubt, barring injury or just him not wanting it, that he won't be in the NFL ... Speed, size, ability, everything is outstanding from a physical standpoint."
Word. Rich Rod needs to stop the whole "our helmets have wings" sales pitch.Originally Posted by EnEyeKayEe

SAN ANTONIO -The road to San Antonio and the U.S. Army All-American Bowl is different for everyone. Many remember being told when they were invited but few had the opportunity to share that with television viewers around the country.
Bronx (N.Y.) Fieldston quarterback Cole Marcoux not only had the opportunity to share the moment, but also his journey to the game in the TV show The Ride which aired on the Fox Sports Network in the fall.
"It's kind of surreal to be here right now," Marcoux said. "Every step has been a little more special. I don't think it gets any better than this. It's been remarkable and there's no better way to end it than being in San Antonio this week."
The Ride featured Cole Marcoux's journey to the Army game.
The journey from New York to Texas began in Pennsylvania as the 6-foot-5, 234-pound quarterback made his way to Philadelphia for a Football University Camp.
"I was at a Football University Camp in Philadelphia just to tune up my skills and get ready for the summer where I was going to go around the country and go to different university camps," Marcoux said. "The next thing I know there are guys in red t-shirts and a coach comes over and says 'do you want to be a part of a reality TV show' and I had no idea what he was talking about.
"He brings me aside and puts me in a group of eight guys and the next thing I know I'm part of a competition where four got taken out and four went on to play in Top Gun in Florida."
Following the FBU event in Florida, the field of four quarterbacks was narrowed down to three and the prospects were then followed throughout their respective high school seasons before two were awarded a trip to Hawaii for the Aloha Prep Bowl.
After the Aloha Prep Bowl, Marcoux was told he won the competition and as a result he would be making the trip to San Antonio for the Army game.
It was a bit of a roller coaster, but when it was all said and done The Ride was more than Marcoux could have ever imagined.
"It was nerve wracking, there's no doubt about it but the whole time I felt it was so easy," he said. "If I had not gone to Philadelphia that weekend, none of this would have happened. All of this is an unbelievable experience and the whole time I'm just trying to live each step and take everything for what it's worth and that's a whole lot. It's unbelievable."
Marcoux helped lead Fieldston to an 8-1 season as he threw for over 1600 yards and 18 touchdowns.
"Marcoux is a tall, strong armed pro-style quarterback that is super intelligent and possesses the work habits off the field to develop into a successful player," Rivals.com Analyst Barry Every said.
He's also gained valuable wisdom and advice from his head coach Gus Ornstein - who was part of the reason Marcoux stuck with football throughout high school.
"That's probably the reason I play football," Marcoux said referring to Ornstein. "I was mainly a baseball player up until last year really. I had no intention of playing football and Gus is the reason really why I've stuck with football this whole time. He's been unbelievable."
Now that he is in San Antonio, Marcoux is ready to reconnect with prospects he has met along the journey and prepare for his time in the Ivy League at Dartmouth.
"Academically coming from the school I come from, it's important to meet your goals and from an academic standpoint I feel like I've done that," Marcoux said. "So I'm very happy in going to Dartmouth College. From a football standpoint, I feel it's a great level and somewhere I can be successful. If something comes along, a bigger Division I school, I'm open to consider it, but I'm happy where I am and I'm excited about that."

h0urs - Who would your choice for HC at USC be? Are Fisher and Del Rio legit candidates?

Word. Dudes don't know what they are talking about. Team is gonna look much more like the '06 squad. Not saying we have any shot atPrater, but it's not gonna be the wide open spread we've had the last 3 years.Originally Posted by GUNNA GET IT

the offense will obviously revert back to what it was when Chris Leak QB'd them to a National title
Now that sounds like a Mike Garrett hire if I've ever heard of oneOriginally Posted by after h0urs
ESPN just reported Herm Edwards contacted SC and is very interested in the job
University of Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart has been formally offered the same position at Georgia since returning from Pasadena, Calif., multiple sources have told The Tuscaloosa News.
Bulldogs coach Mark Richt fired former defensive coordinator Willie Martinez on Dec. 2, sparking speculation since then that the Bulldogs would target Smart, who played and coached at UGA, as the replacement for Martinez. According to sources, Smart has received a written contract from UGA but has neither signed it nor made a decision regarding the opening. The offer is believed to be well in excess of Smart's current contract at Alabama, under which he earns just under $400,000 in base pay per year.
It was pretty clear that Richt was waiting for the NC game to pass to make one more run at Smart. I fully expect him to get a bigger raise and stay atAlabama.
