1993 Production Sample Jordan IX - A glimpse at what the IX could have been...

If they were mids, I'd say they're a sample of a proposed look for the whole AJ IX line. But since they are lows, I'd bet money these were a proposed low top "i.e." like others have suggested. People are hating on these, but I bet had these actually released they would now be considered classics. Just my $0.02 of course.

The Air Jordan X was designed by Tinker Hatfield when Michael Jordan retired from the NBA. How would Tinker continue on the Air Jordan storyline, when Michael had decided his story was over? In a way, Tinker had to begin with a blank slate, and came up with the ingenious idea to use the shoe as a walking tribute, as the outsole was used as a display for Michael’s career achievements up to that point. The Air Jordan X finally re-released in 2005 in a number of colorways (both original and new), but the most stirring version of the AJX were a number of seamless promo samples – ten pairs total, five different colorways. Sneaker News previously showed you the Safety Orange leather, Navy suede version, and Varsity Red version earlier, but here’s a look at the equally rare Mango colorway; the upper features a rich deerskin construction with a matching tonal midsole. This rare pair has experienced some wear over the years, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that these are one of the rarest Air Jordans to ever have leaved the Beaverton office. Check out the detailed images below and check out the auction from 2legit2quit78 on eBay.
