The most he knows about one of the three best starting pitchers in baseball is that he is the coverboy of a video game? What does it matter if he plays against him or not? That is disrespectful and borderline ignorant.

And Rivera doesn't know who Andrew Bailey is? A fellow American League closer? Rookie or not, that is also disrespectful.

the best starting pitchers changes from year to year...he said he saw highlights and saw he was filthy so dont change his words. If you dont likejeter's personality or his 4 rings then you're alone. I didnt know who Andrew Baily was untill last week and im an above average baseball fan. Aboveaverage rookies like Bailey, Huston Street, Eric Chavez, Fausto Carmona, Victor Martinez come and go....legends like Mo Rivera, Derek Jeter are known forgenerations because they either won awards or World Series rings. Lincecum could end up like Barry Zito, who knows. Not everyone reads statlines and mlb.comeverday. People like Jeter have celebrities too smash and be the captain of the greatest city in the world.

Come on KLJ, most of Jeter's interviews he's always saying stuff like this in a playful manner. He didn't say he only knew him for being thecoverboy said he only knew him from the commercial. Jeter's probably never met the kid before since this is the first time they're actually on thesame field together. There's no way he meant it in a disrespectful or ignorant way because that's never how he is. He's probably looking forwardto meeting him.

And Bailey is a rookie, most players in the AL probably don't know him. It's not like Mo said he doesn't care to meet Bailey. Out of all thepeople on the Yankees you know these two have the most respect for other players in the MLB. If it were two other players yea it could be taken out ofproportion. You're letting your hate seep out.

Anyway...

why the %%** should Mariano Rivera know who Andrew Bailey is? How is that disrespect if he doesn't? I'm sure Mo worries about way more important thingsthan keeping up with the A's pathetic roster.

i guess i didnt read the context, obviously Mo makes himself available at every all star game and is always cool with all the players there. Jeter too. Marianois well aware of everything going on in the league but I do not think it's disrespectful at all if he never heard of the guy.

^^ He won't admit defeatt. He'll just make some high-and-mighty comment about you being a self-absorbed Yankee fan and return to the fortress ofsolitude that is the Cleveland Indians season thread.

Pathetic.

San Francisco Chronicle - Tim Lincecum remains an unknown to most of the American League, including Derek Jeter.

"I've seen some highlights of him," said Jeter. "Doesn't seem like he's much fun. The most I know about him is his video-game commercial. I haven't played it. I'll probably play it tonight and try to find some things out."

Mariano Rivera, meanwhile, has never heard of teammate Andrew Bailey of the A's. [READ]

excuse my ignorance..

was that a compliment or a put down?

I thought it was a compliment. Not much fun meaning he's a rough AB.
ahhh that makes sense. not fun to face off against

Jeter will probably strike out on three pitches.

Yankee batters have a hard-enough time facing off against pitchers they've never seen before.

You said something worth replying to?

Taking shots at me because I'm an Indians fan, or because I know who Andrew Bailey is? You didn't know who Andrew Bailey was until a week ago, but youknow he's an above-average rookie? Victor Martinez was/is above-average? Huston Street? Tim Lincecum could be Barry Zito?

andrew bailey has had one good season so far. ALOT of people do not know who he is. I saw his statline was impressed so i saw some mlb.com videolast week. Thats how you get to know him.

Im giving examples of players who have had two or three good seasons then turned into average players like your boy Carmona who you failed to mention. Streetwasnt impressive last year thats why Oakland let him go.

My comparison to Tim to Barry Zito is fair because you never know what arm problems they might have.

Above-average means good but not SUPERSTAR EVERYONE KNOWS YOUR NAME STATUS like jeter, mo rivera, cc sabathia.

So does that mean Joe Buck will be calling the game.......at the stadium (new) his dad used to work at? Oh for Christ Sake...I can't imagine having thisbroadcast un-muted.

Barry Zito went 23-5 when he was 24.

Joe Buck apparently IS fox sports. The guy just sounds like such a douche ts hard to watch the games he announces. But I dont think there are any localbroadcasts on the radio for the All-Star game so im gonna have to put up with it since I cant watch sports with no commentary. It feels like im at the bar andI cant watch it there because if you look away and look back in the middle of a play I feel like im watching a replay. It irks me a little

They need to have some good damn announcers for these games/playoffs/etc.

Its a shame I have to hear Joe Buck ruin games when you can easily hire a guy like Vin Scully (even though he is up there in age).....it makes listening to abroadcast that much more enjoyable.

Yes!

There are so many broadcasters out there who are 100x better.
I'm sure if they were to ask Vin to do it just once, he would go. But yeah, Joe Buck needs to go away.

Victor Martinez? Huston Street?

Eric Chavez has been injured for four years.

Faus' problems are all mechanical. Don't worry about it. I'm not.
Street wasnt impressive last year thats why Oakland let him go.
They "let him go" to acquire Matt Holiday.

Anyway, FOX could at least pair Buck with someone other than McCarver; that might be a mild improvement. I hate Buck, but McCarver is even worse.

lol if your talking about Ken Rosenthal he is a big time insider he just comes off soft on tv its true lol

and Joe Buck needs to go before McCarver...I think McCarver adds a lot to the broadcast as far as insight and a baseball mind who played the game, Joe Buck isjust an annoying voice who thinks he's funny. I'd LOVE to see McCarver with a better play-by-play on a regular basis

that's why im in love with the MLB network right now - anytime you can get Bob Costas on play by play and JIM KAAT the MAN on analyst...now thats abroadcast
