Phelps finally came thru and Lochte messed it up

finally?

the coach messed up.. lochte came into the olympics as either the 5th, 6th or 7th fastest american in the 100 free:

- lochte went 48.91 in the semi-finals at the US trials (he would have finished 7th with this time in the final at the trials)

- phelps swam the heats at the '08 trials and went 47.92, which would have been good enough for him to tie for first in the final

if troy (lochte's coach and the head coach for the US men) wanted to give lochte a chance of swimming the 4 x 100 free relay, he should have made him earn it by having the fastest split of the 4 guys in the heat

- the usual protocol is for the 3rd-6th fastest guys to swim in the heat.. and the guys with the 2 fastest splits from the heat get to swim with the overall 2 fastest guys in the final

phelps earns his spot because he is the fastest guy going into the olympics of any american (48.0.. adrian won the olympic trails by going 48.10 (he won by .36 over cullen jones).. it's no surprise that phelps was half a second faster than anyone else on the team

Is it usual for the swimming coach to use 4 different people for the qualifying race? I know those guys get medals for competing but it kind of sucks not being able to compete in the finals.

they have to qualify to be in the finals. too many swimmers, so different meets to find the top 8 for the final.

I was just thinking the same thing. She's one of the only 17 year olds that I would be afraid to meet in a dark alley.

I was also wondering whether she has botox or now. No matter her facial expression, her forehead NEVER has any wrinkles.
