2013-2014 NBA Thread - IND @ WAS and OKC @ LAC on ESPN

Considering his entire career was almost marred by off the court incidents before Cincy...I'd say nobody is making it up.

Even he speaks on how playing in Indiana was key to him focusing solely on basketball. Every time Larry Bird is asked about Lance this season he always says how Indiana provides with the "best environment" for Lance.

It's not even a month into 2014 and there's a bunch of contenders for Gif of the Year

I haven't seen enough from Lance yet to suggest he'd make a good #2 option.

With Harden...we all knew he was in a unique situation coming off the bench from the jump. Everyone knew (or should have known) what he was capable of.

Lance is taking everyone by surprise right now. I'm not exactly sure what we're seeing from him this season suggests he's capable of shouldering a bigger load.

Not yet.

does Lance have a history of this kinda stuff or are yall just assuming?
Does he have a history of being a knucklehead? Yes.

If he was drafted by the Knicks, lord knows what would have happened to him by now.

Lance is damn near basically JR Smith, just on a winning team so all his antics are celebrated and amusing rathered then villified. Hell, they have even dated the same chic ( K. Michelle). If he ***** around and signs with a losing team with no veteran presence, we'll see. Plus didn't he already throw his baby mama down the stairs or something?

He does have a history of these things. The same way he behaves on the court with some of his antics i.e with what occurred between him and Steph curry last night will be the way he behaves off the court. Small market teams where big distractions aren't around to distract him are better for him. As someone who has grown up in Brooklyn and knows of Lances antics, its best that he stays at indy.

:lol What incidents are you talking about besides the altercation with his child's mom? Btw that case was dismissed.

Some people eventually grow up. Dude hasn't been in any negative reports in 4 years. No one talks about him being a bad teammate or not being focused on ball. That "knucklehead" label has to go away at some point.

if someone could edit his personal info on wiki and put the word "ready" next to born instead of his bday and birthplace that would be dope

there really hasnt been much antics from lance since the choke sign. he may have his celebration dance and pounding of his chest but he isnt out there untying shoelaces, going out to clubs and instagraming/tweeting and basically causing trouble. has lance ever been fined by the pacers? the pacers were patient with him. also, bird and mgmt has done everything to clean up the mess from "malice at palce" so he is surrounded by teammates that wont encourage that type of behavior

Look at how dude behaves on the court and tell me you don't see the knuckle head in him still? last night he intentionally ran into Steph Curry. Then a few minutes later he tried a similar stunt with Clay Thompson who basically tripped him/ pushed him to the floor

I hear you, but these dudes are talking about OFF court issues.

I saw what Lance did to Steph and Klay last night. I also saw what Rob Horry did to Steve Nash in '07 and I wouldnt call him a knucklehead :lol

I understand Lance probably wouldn't have flourished anywhere else besides Indiana...but do Knicks fan feel any type of way that they drafted Andy Rautins and Landry Fields with back to back picks...right before Lance?

I don't even think about it. Mostly because I assume Lance would have been traded at some point if the Knicks drafted him.

Why exactly wouldn't Lance be a good #2 option?

It's entirely possible he could be... but would you trust him right now with that responsibility? Say he keeps up his play through the rest of the season. You're a team with cap space and you need a number 2 to pair alongside your franchise guy. Are you prepared to give Lance 10-12 million a year (the numbers some people have been throwing out)?

If he's made a breakthrough and his game improves, it's a good value and investment.. but I'm worried it's a combination of a "right place, right time" perfect situation in Indy + a contract year.

Of course you're not going to get a lot of those "J.R. Smith antics" from Lance in a city like Indiana and on veteran winning team. Let him get a nice size contract, move to a more social setting on a team that's not winning like Indiana. It may not happen, but I think its bound to happen.

The point is that if that Stephenson wasn't in Indiana around a great organization, and great mentor in Larry Bird.. those off court issues may start to resurface.

Yeah. Of all the questionable + downright stupid decisions they've made over the last decade+...that one is pretty low on the list. I can't fault them for not taking the chance in that situation. You could argue "why not?" since they had back to back 2nd rounders...I just think it wouldn't have wouldn't have worked out in the long run for both parties.

Probably would've ended up being packaged for Melo and flourished out there though.
