Geno Smith, Alex Okafor, Demarco CobbsTim Heitman/US PRESSWIREGeno Smith stayed cool under pressure at Texas, his best performance so far.

When Geno Smith cracked the Big Board for the first time last week, the question was whether his exceptional performance early in the season against bad competition would fade once he started to face better talent. Well, so far, so good. His numbers against Texas weren't otherworldly, but he was typically efficient, and the accuracy was there. He faced pressure without panic, and again didn't throw an interception. He makes a big move up this week. Also, a very good pass-rusher from Texas A&M joins the Board for the first time.

As you read below, the scouting perspective will remain similar week to week, but I'll note performance and matchup highlights. Plus, here are my junior prospect rankings and my senior prospect rankings. Juniors and draft-eligible sophomores are noted with an asterisk.

1
Jarvis Jones *

AGE: 22
DOB: 10/13/89
HT: 6-3
WT: 241
POS: OLB
Tkl 36
Sack 5.5
Int 1

Limited at South Carolina, who avoided throwing at all costs. Jones is an explosive, relentless edge rusher who profiles as a 3-4 OLB. He has a quick first step and violent hands; he tackles well and closes fast. Solid against the run and can really cover.

Brilliant against Utah, and his line would have been better minus drops. Barkley has limitations with physical skills, but he's very good across the board: ball placement, timing, use of his eyes, poise, leadership skills and experience. Great leader.

3
Barkevious Mingo *

AGE: 22
DOB: 10/4/90
HT: 6-5
WT: 242
POS: DE
Tkl 16
Sack 1.0

So-so game at Florida; needs to play with greater leverage and take defenders on. Mingo started playing football late, as a high school junior, but his talent is significant. Uses length and a great first step to turn the corner. His pass-rush skills are good but could be diversified. Still learning concepts but reads the game well despite lack of experience.

Great start against USC, but faded some in terms of impact. Brings consistent, relentless effort. Demands double-teams and clogs up the middle of the field. A great sense for disrupting the run game, with power to bull rush. Quick off the ball, with great upper-body strength. Coaches rave.

5
Sam Montgomery *

AGE: 21
DOB: 5/25/90
HT: 6-4
WT: 260
POS: DE
Tkl 18
Sack 2.0
Int 0

Like Mingo, merely OK on Saturday at Florida. Before the season, he added size and could be considered a fit in almost any system given his range of skills. Athleticism and pass-rush skills are there, and he really holds up against the run. Max-effort player, natural athlete, instinctive rusher.
LAST WEEK: 5 | PLAYER CARD

6
Manti Te'o

AGE: 21
DOB: 1/26/91
HT: 6-2
WT: 255
POS: LB
Tkl 46
Sack 0
Int 3

Another dominating performance, and if the custom was different, could be a Heisman candidate. The top interior linebacker in 2013 draft class, his instincts are exceptional and he can attack the backfield. Te'o is a big, strong, prepared tackling presence in the middle of the field. Reads plays well and gets through traffic.

Geno Smith

AGE: 21
DOB: 10/10/90
HT: 6-3
WT: 220
POS: QB
Comp 166
Att 204
Pct 81.4
Yds 1,996

Great game against a tough Texas secondary on Saturday. Smart, accurate and patient, Smith is a pocket-passer who can move but keeps his eyes downfield, hits targets short and will read defenses and move defenders for deep balls. Has exceptional ball placement, able to hit receivers in stride.
LAST WEEK: 14 | PLAYER CARD

8
Chance Warmack

AGE: 21
DOB: 9/14/91
HT: 6-3
WT: 320
POS: OG
GP 5
GS 5

Barely a bad moment on tape to point to this season. A powerful run-blocker, Warmack isn't just massive. Warmack moves well, with initial power in tight spaces and the ability to seek out LBs on the second level. Total package at guard.
LAST WEEK: 7 | PLAYER CARD

9
Luke Joeckel *

AGE: 21
DOB: 11/6/91
HT: 6-6
WT: 310
POS: OT
GP 5
GS 5

As good as any lineman in the country so far. Experienced, he's started on the left since his freshman season. Joeckel is best in pass protection and won't get rattled by speed or secondary moves at this level. Not an elite athlete, but he's a good technician.
LAST WEEK: 8 | PLAYER CARD

10
Johnathan Hankins *
AGE: 21
DOB:
HT: 6-3
WT: 335
POS: DT
Tkl 31
Sack 1.0
Int 0

Really hard to move, yet he can move well himself. Has size you'd want out of a 3-4 NT prospect, but he also shows off explosive quickness for a big man. Not really a technical pass-rusher. Size allows him to drive blockers into the backfield, then he shows impressive agility. Hankins gets down the line well.
LAST WEEK: 10 | PLAYER CARD

11
Dee Milliner *

AGE: 21
DOB: 9/14/91
HT: 6-1
WT: 199
POS: CB
Tkl 14
Sack 0
Int 2

A willing hitter and tackler, what first jumps out about Milliner is how physical he is. He hits receivers and isn't shy in run support; but with that, he's fluid, reads the game well and can turn and run with top wideouts. Assembly line in the Bama secondary.

John Jenkins

AGE: 23
DOB: 7/11/89
HT: 6-3
WT: 358
POS: DT
Tkl 23
Sack 0

Played pretty well at South Carolina, but needed help. A load inside, Jenkins just eats blocks and can push the pocket, too. He moves pretty well, so he's not locked into that role. Guys such as these have serious value.

LAST WEEK: 12 | PLAYER CARD

13
Bjoern Werner *

AGE: 21
DOB: 9/30/90
HT: 6-4
WT: 255
POS: DE
Tkl 20
Sack 7.0
Int 0

Werner finally ran into a tough day against NC State; time to bounce back. Strong but athletic, he has great ball awareness as he rushes, and knocks down balls at a high rate. Developing as a pass-rusher, high ceiling, another pass-rusher with a late arrival to the sport.
LAST WEEK: 13 | PLAYER CARD

Justin Hunter *

AGE: 21
DOB: 5/20/91
HT: 6-4
WT: 205
POS: WR
Rec 33
Yds 456
Avg 13.8
TD 4

In some ways, season already a success for Hunter. Good to see totals pile up after the injuries of the past. Stats hadn't done him justice. Blazing speed, but uses good technique and gets in and out of breaks. Great hands, and a major threat down the field.
LAST WEEK: 11 | PLAYER CARD

Kawann Short

AGE: 23
DOB: 2/2/89
HT: 6-3
WT: 312
POS: DT
Tkl 17

Active in a disappointing game against Michigan. Continues to improve pass-rush skills. Uses power and athleticism and can beat any kind of blocking. Really disruptive and demands help. Very good athlete, can control the line of scrimmage. Uses his hands well to shed blocks; constantly in the backfield.
LAST WEEK: 16 | PLAYER CARD

Keenan Allen *

AGE: 20
DOB: 4/27/92
HT: 6-3
WT: 206
POS: WR
Rec 41

Avg 11.4

A tough season for Cal, but Allen is quietly piling up numbers. You can't cover him. Allen is a master at creating space, no surprise from a former safety. Strong hands; catches the ball with ease away from his body. Sets up defenders, sees the field well, settles in against zones. Run-after-catch skills.
LAST WEEK: 17 | PLAYER CARD

Sylvester Williams

AGE: 23
DOB: 11/21/88
HT: 6-3
WT: 315
POS: DT
Tkl 16
Sack 5.0

Consistently quickest off the snap this weekend. Williams is a gifted player who took a long road back. Really quick at this size, he has good feet, a strong punch to get defenders off-balance and great energy. Will chase down plays. Great reemergence.
LAST WEEK: 19 | PLAYER CARD

18
Damontre Moore *

AGE: 21
DOB: 9/11/92
HT: 6-4
WT: 248
POS: DE
Tkl 35
Sack 7.0
Int 0

Versatile, Moore has adjusted well to playing as a defensive end in a 4-3 scheme. Excels as a pass-rusher, able to dip hips, turn the corner and use quickness and length to bother tackles. Very productive so far, almost regardless of the competition.

Tackling machine since he's come back from four-game suspension. Covers the field, able to attack gaps against the run, stretch wide and move well in coverage. Eyes in the backfield, he reads passes well. Behind only Te'o as interior linebacker.

Corey Lemonier *

AGE: 21
DOB: 2/19/91
HT: 6-4
WT: 250
POS: DE
Tkl 15
Sack 5.0

Play has dipped since an extremely hot start. Can he deal with increased blocking attention? Has explosive burst off the edge, though he's light for a defensive end prospect. Has the speed but must hold up better against the run. Utilizes quickness and great suddenness off the snap; developing secondary moves.
LAST WEEK: 9 | PLAYER CARD

21
David Amerson *

AGE: 20
DOB: 12/8/91
HT: 6-3
WT: 189
POS: CB
Tkl 22
Sack 0
Int 3

Better game against Florida State -- was physical and active. Has good cover skills and size that could have him coveted as a safety as well. A sixth sense for when to improvise, Amerson will drop routes to make plays. Has the size and speed to match up with any receiver; freelances effectively.
LAST WEEK: 20 | PLAYER CARD

AGE: 20
DOB: 10/29/91
HT: 6-0
WT: 232
POS: RB

Big plays haven't been there, but steady production has. Little by little, gaining comfort with repaired knee. Defining stretch approaching as he faces great competition; can young O-line survive? Powerful, tightly packed player who delivers a punch but moves better than a player his size should. Elite if healthy.
LAST WEEK: 21 | PLAYER CARD

23
Sharrif Floyd *

AGE: 21
DOB: 5/28/92
HT: 6-3
WT: 303

Really didn't jump off the screen against LSU, and has been good but by no means dominant so far. Seeing flashes and steady effort. A star coming out of high school, Floyd is starting to realize his potential. Quickness is menacing on the interior and he has a great burst, drawing double-teams. Could penetrate more.

Eric Reid *

AGE: 21

Played well if not great at Florida. Great instincts, and a sound tackler from the secondary. A safety who can cover but also play close to the line. Tied for the lead in tackles on a team that can really pursue the ball. Big hitter.
LAST WEEK: 22 | PLAYER CARD

25
Tyler Eifert *

AGE: 22
DOB: 9/8/90
HT: 6-6
WT: 251
POS: TE
Rec 9

Just two catches Saturday. Not seeing enough passes. He has pass-catching skills of a natural receiver; can be split out. Eifert is a former WR, catches the ball with ease and can stretch the seams, but he's not an exceptional blocker. Top TE in a light class.

The latest rumors around a possible USC football uniform change are unfounded. Two athletic department staffers found some old Nike prototypes, which the Trojans decided not to wear last year, and posted a photo on Instagram.

USC has a longstanding uniform tradition, which includes being the only FBS school to never put names on the back of its jerseys, and the current administration has no intentions of making major modifications to the classic cardinal and gold.

Heard the same thing...

Obviously Nike would like them to reconsider...
