I knew what I was looking for, had to find it. Searched most of it in the past, so about 20 minutes.
That last quote about the salary cap was the only one I really needed to find, hadn't heard it before. And it is quite possibly the most infuriating quote.
Forget it, I found worse, the next two sentences of that last quote.

Worst part is, she could have given him a farewell tour at 2 year / $32mil.
Even if the same thing happened, and he still only plays 6 games. Kobe at $15mil and then $17mil would allow Kevin Love, max out Eric Bledsoe, give $12mil a year to a center, and our draft pick. Then in 2016 would still have enough room for KD with Bledsoe, Love, Center (Asik available in 2015) and our top 8 draft pick.
How she settled on 2 years / $48.5 mil is beyond me.

If rambis stays on the coaching staff, which I think he will, the Lakers basically paid mda so they could steal his offense. If that's the case I look for them to pursue a defensive minded coach or like others have said byron scott. Scott has ties to cp3 and Irving and they both seemed to have a close relationship with him even tho they got into it at times.
Rambis has coached love, fisher being a vet to russ and kd, Jerry west had Memphis connects-- wait I mean rumors of Kevin Ollie & a top draft pick. If it's true that it's not always what you know but who you know then I think we will like the direction this team is headed
We got pau the same way Boston got kg after all. Should be able to make a few phone calls after basketball reasons

Was on ESPN earlier today and heard Adande's comments on the MDA resignation.
And IMO he was right on the money. MDA wasn't given a fair shake. Listen I'm not a fan of MDA by any means but even Kup said it himself, "given the circumstances I don't know that anybody could have done a better job than Mike the past two seasons".
Not really his fault that he was hired over Phil, that's on Jim. Jeanie too, you're ******* screwing the guy but you're blaming your brother for "backstabbing" you and bringing in MDA. Type of ******* twilight zone novela ******** is this? You are the executives of the greatest franchise in NBA history, ******* act like it.
And back to MDA, he inherited a dysfunctional team, with a prima donna Dwight, and a team that just suffered a rash of injuries in 12-13. Forget 13-14, this **** was FUBAR'd before it started with him.
And really, through all that, we expected him to coach a team that really never was suited to his strengths as a offensive minded coach.
IDK anymore. Can we just come out and say it already? We're in total rebuild mode, the Kobe 48.5 re-up was a pure stopgap move to keep us enticed. Lord help us with Jeanie & Jim, God damn it....

That's not how things work Ska.
Jerry had final decisions on everything. If Jim Buss goes up to Jeanie as Jeanie said he did, and asks can he and Phil work together again that means he had real interest in Phil. If he had no interest, he wouldn't wake up that sleeping giant, rattling the hornet's nest. Jerry Buss makes the final decision, everyone involved has admitted it (Phil, Jeanie, Jim, and Jeanie said Jerry told her himself). Just because he's gone, doesn't mean he deserves a pass if you are going to throw blame for the hire as people do because they don't like MDA. Just like Jim gets blame for Mike Brown.
Go back and read Jeanie's quotes, and the quotes surrounding the extension. Then her quotes that SHE gets the say so on big decisions. She pushed for the extension. Wanted the farewell tour, then talks about how salary cap doesn't matter.
What I was correcting was SneakerHeathen saying "Not really his fault that he was hired over Phil, that's on Jim." That is just false. Correcting that by saying... No that's on Jerry is not misleading.
From every article, including Jeanie's own mouth, SHE was the one who pushed to get the extension done quickly, then talks about salary cap isn't "warm and fuzzy" Deductive reasoning would show she was in charge of it, and somehow came up with that dollar amount.
When it's something you push for. You alone deserve blame. Should the entire Lakers front office get blame for the "Stay D12" billboards, when Jeanie said it was her idea.

Don't try and tell me 48 million for Kobe was all Jeanie, as if she really made that decision on her own.

She didn't draw up that contract and hand it to Kobe behind their backs.

She was the one who pushed for it. No person around the Lakers said Jim & Mitch pushed for it. Why? Because there was no rush, Kobe wasn't leaving. He's been on the Lakers for almost half of his life.
We don't know where the number started at, hell it might have started at 2 year / $62mil because that's the max he could have got.
What's Jim going to say... No we won't re-sign Kobe for the number that YOU want. We'll pay him less, and you'll sit there and like it. No because she can go over his head, and just say no I'm going to do it how I want.
