2014 NBA Draft Thread

Thoughts? 8o

I agree with most of your points about Parker. Especially the portion you said about his shot creativity. One of my favorite plays from this past season you cited, the post up of Kaleb from Arizona was another part I liked. Also, I agreed with you about his shot selection but I don't think that's something that should raise any eyebrows. When your usage rate is that high, it's almost a guarantee that you are going to take some questionable bad shots.

I do disagree on what you said about his athleticism. You did say he was no slouch in that department, But I think it's further than that. He can more than hold his on as far as athleticism goes in the NBA.

All in all though, I liked the profile a lot and as you stated, few people come into the league with his skills already in the arsenal. As i've said in here, players don't get new skills when they hit the league, they just refine what they already have been doing since high school. It's all a matter of whether or not how well what they can do translates to the league and for Jabari, that appears to be a resounding yes. He has all the offensive skills to be a dynamo offensive player. Playmaking may be an issue though.

I think doug is going to LA, i dont see how the lakers pass up on him
Between Doug, Smart, Randle. Depending on who's available, it's a toss up for the Lakers. They could use any of those guys and you could make an argument for any of em.

I personally would love to see Doug flourish. If his game translates to the pros it'd be an entertaining brand of basketball. I have my doubts unfortunately. I'm crossing my fingers for him.

If Smart improved his jumper at all I'd be much higher on him and I'm sure others would too.

All in all tough to really gauge a lot of these prospects.

There's not much of a track record with the Lakers picks in the lotto, but I think they'll go with the upside pick rather than a polished prospect like McDermott.

Like how they opted for Bynum over guys like Granger and May.

I dont like a vic/ennis backcourt. I say magic draft exum and then best player available at 12
im just not a fan of ennis being drafted so high, im would draft napier over him without thinking twice

There really isn't a prospect like that though unless they go with Gordon or Vonleh? Or Randle if he's available, if he is then that would probably be the obvious choice.

Buss pegged Bynum as a potential special player. I don't think any of these guys are in that mold.

Thanks.

I'm thinking Aaron Gordon or Marcus Smart will be who I write about next for my next blog.

I was just trying to draw a parallel.

There's already reports they like Vonleh.

Exum, Afflao, Oladipo, Tobias, and Vucevic is a nice core to build around in Orlando. Add a couple bench pieces and they're definitely back in the playoffs.

These aren't even real workouts tbh. Lavine and Gordon going through the motions. Lavine really didn't care did he on those blatant travels
