Austin honestly should've stayed another year or two before making the jump. Development on the college level is a lot different than the NBA level and he needed that development

Pelicans can't feel too bad about taking Rivers 10th. Didn't miss out on anything spectacular. The best picks came before him.

Austin is in the scariest place to be for an nba guard

Not athletic enough to be a combo slasher

Not good enough to be a defensive specialist

Not a playmaker

Not good enough to be a shooting specialist

Every nba player that's lasted that's not a superstar finds a niche somewhere

He just got to find his niche fast

how or why Jimmer is still in the L, ill never understand

Why shouldn't he be in the leage? As bad as he is on D, he actually produces offensively.

Jimmer didn't get a fair shake in Sac. Always thought he could be an Eddie house type given the opportunity.

No. He was who he was going to be coming into the NBA whether he stayed one year or four years. College does not prepare you for the NBA. How does staying longer playing COLLEGE ball help you for the NBA? The only thing staying longer in college does is shorten one's NBA career. The best thing going for Austin right now is that he came out after his freshman year, so although he stunk it up for most of his 2 years in the L, he's still only 21 years old.

He got plenty of chances. I watched every minute that Jimmer ever played in the NBA. He can't do a single thing besides shoot the ball. His ceiling is coming in to play 5-10 minutes and run off some screens and shoot 3s.

Yep. Austin is one of my favorite players, but his biggest issue is that he doesn't do one thing particularly well enough at an NBA level. He has a lightening quick first step but can't do anything with it due to his size, lack of athleticism, and lack of shooting prowess. Ultimately, his life in the league will depend on how consistent he can be as a shooter. He actually showed some potential as far as being a playmaker.

Austin's problem is he can't play off the ball well yet, and can't finish at the rim.

He actually is good at getting past his man, it's his decision making after that...that he has to work on.

And he's a streak shooter 4real. Needs to change that form and become a better shooter.

Main thing for him is to learn how to finish, hit FTs and become a better spot up shooter. Defense will come in time.

Hated him at Duke, but he's 21 and has some intriguing skills if put in the right place

7 ppg in 14mpg tells me this guy can score the ball. I've watched jimmer too. I've accepted he may never be a full time pg in this league. Starter or backup. He can be Eddie house though. That's a contributor.

But if you can't see that he has value as the 7th or 8th player off the bench playing with a 2nd unit that hides him on D is beyond me.

Austin Rivers was who he was before he got here. Staying at Duke wouldn't have done much for him. Still an undersized 2 guard with below average athleticism and poor shot selection, who can't defend.

Jimmer is the type of dude you use off the bench for triples and energy. PG version of Steve Novak except he's more skilled and could shoot off the dribble.

Zyzz, dudes with jumpers as wet as Jimmer's don't fade out of the league. He could be here for another 10 years just off the fact that you always need shooting.

Chicago couldve easily used jimmer in the playoffs

But they got one of the best coaches in the league because of the reg season :smh:
