Cousins was a good defender in college, and just has better instincts, Boogies problem in the past was effort and fouling. Okafor wasn't a good defender in college, and has been titanically awful in the pro's way worse than rookie Cousins.
Also cousins is an incredible passer and was the minute he stepped into the league. Okafor is a black hole.
I don't see the Cousins comparison at all, other than the post game.
I don't even understand how you can call Lopez a floor. Lopez is an excellent shot blocker and at least provides rim protection in the right schemes, Jahlil can't give you that, Lopez can also shoot.
He gon be better than Lopez.
I can see him scoring 25 a game at his peak. He'll be the PF version of Harden. All offense no defense.
A PF version of Harden is worse than Harden because PF's are way more integral to your defense, you can hide James Harden you can't hide a bad big man defender. Not sure way anyone would be confident he's going to be better than Lopez.
also Okafor is a C.
Lopez as a 20 year old rookie, has better numbers than a 20 year old Okafor. and gives you shooting and shot blocking that Okafor doesn't.

Center, PF it's the same **** nowadays.
Lopez average 13 and 8 as Rookie. Okafor 17 and. Lopez percentages are better but those ain't exactly better #'s.
His ceiling is way higher than Lopez to me. Lopez has never been a good rebounder for his size and postion. He's a decent shot blocker. Never been a top big man in the league.
I won't ever defend Okafor's lack of defense. Being a big man that doesn't play defense is a serious flaw but he'll be a force on offense. Something Lopez has never been. And I think he can at least average 10 rebounds a game. Something Lopez has never done.

If you think Brook can't rebound then you must think Okafor can't either.

Cousins wasn't no damn "good defender" coming out of college. Stop it
. He also shot poorly when he first came into the league...is still inefficient and turnover prone. Jahlil is a black hole...but his handle and vision are there. He can already hit the foul line jumper....and is taking bigs off the dribble routinely.I think Jahlil can become an average defender overall if Demarcus Cousins can. That's definitely fair.

Nah. Lopez ain't a good rebounder for his size. Right now Jalil ain't either. I think he can develop into one. I might be wrong. Only time will tell. But he's definitely gonna impact games more than Brook damn Lopez.

very few bigs want to learn and excel on the defensive end. hard work on the boards/defensive end should translate right away.
