I feel like the Warriors come playoff time will just be too much of a machine for everyone else. Okc, SA, LAC, and Hou have too many questions for me to have faith in them. Mostly how does new pieces work with the pieces from last year on those teams.

Plus Steph seems like he wants to just obliterate every 3 point record that his name is not next to.

I'm concern a bit, a bit, on the Wolves. But I feel like giving them a month or two pass b/c of Flip's passing. It just has to be a gut punch like no other to be there and he's not walking around anymore. But I'll hold off judgment until the new year.

Right. And I don't think any real fan of the NBA would say either of those guys was fired unfairly. Plus, Monty was replaced by another black coach and Shaw got replaced by a long-time, highly regarded assistant, who you could say was unfairly fired from his previous job. Malone was a good hire for the Nuggets, regardless of race.

I suppose. But I'm not sure that the fact there isn't is the result of race-based bias. There's a lot of factors at play.

What teams are you guys favorites to watch so far this season aside from the typical star studded teams?

I've enjoyed watching Orlando, Detroit and Portland so far. Young squads with a lot of talent at every position IMO.

the East ain't caught up yet. Thunder and Rockets just got off to bad starts. Detroit and Toronto got off to good starts.

We ALL KNOW that Toronto and Detroit will come back to earth and aren't real threats.

nobody knows that. pistons aint the same squad you're used to seeiing get washed g. hell they werent the same last year either, but jennings tore his achilles and then the bad augustin trade. team is built for a playoff spot. and theyre only gonna get better. SVG is gonna turn Drum into Dwight 6.7

If the lack of black coaches was a trend that's existed for years and not a result of many recent firings then sure.

Dating back to last season (including playoffs), the Grizz are 25-22 (last 47 games).

I honestly don't think its style of play, but more so the personnel. The Grizz are still more built for the playoffs than the regular season. There are teams that still play slow, but we probably had one of the worst model for success. Chris Wallace did a terrible job once constructing the core of surrounding them with quality pieces. It makes me believe he truly didn't know what he was doing when he constructed the core, he just lucked up.

1) the team was about to give up on Conley before Hollins saved the day. We were seriously about to trade Conley for Sessions back in 2008 or 2009.
2) i don't think anyone expected Marc to be a DPOTY and one of the best centers in the game when they traded Pau for him and scraps
3) adding Zbo was just a desperate move that worked out
4) adding TA (who was a role player on a championship) was never expected to be who he was today

I look at our FO like I look at OKC's. Presti still getting credit for what he did back 2009 (which was the last significant move he made drafting Harden), but failed to make the team better by letting Scott Brooks stay far too long and simply cutting payroll on a team that could've had 3 superstars (plus injuries had a lot to do with it as well). However, OKC has youth on their side and as long as KD and Russ stay, they are elite for another 5 years minimum. Memphis didn't have youth on their side because at the time the core was built, our best players were closing in on 30.

The Grizz had 2.5 years to surround Conley, TA, Zbo and Marc with better role players, shooting and another playmaker after trading Rudy. But, its just been patches and band aids. Now, the team is just very old. We've traded away all of our 1st round picks for average to below average players or even trading them away to cut additional salary. We haven't developed a draft pick since Mike Conley.

Yep.

Our deepest team was the 2011-12 team (the year ZBo was hurt and we collapsed in Game 1 vs the Clippers). That team probably had the most overall talent with Gay, OJ, Cunningham, Speights, Pondexter, along with our starters. The one thing that team was missing was a true backup PG, which we had Gilbert Arenas . As bad as OJ became during his final years as a Grizz, we have yet to bring in better talent than both OJ and Rudy since we traded them away.
