2015 NY Knicks offseason thread, Los Almighty appreciation thread

Rather not waste a max contract on a guy that needs the ball in his hands and can't hit a jump shot. Just my opinion.

Hes a pg, he needs the ball in his hands, its not like rondo is a selfish player

Just because he cant shoot doesnt mean he still cant score when he wants plus hes a walking triple double

Rondo doesn't fit the traditional PG mold for the triangle, but he can take his man off the dribble and run an offense, but i had us winning 10 straight after the WAS game so what do i know.

IDK about you guys, but when Shane Larkin has been our starting PG, he's had the ball most of the time.

yeah but you need a point guard that can hit a jumpshot in the triangle. it's predicated on ball movement, not pick and rolls and chopping the defense up off the dribble. Rondo would've been great for Sn and D'antoni's systems.

This is true, but with the landscape of versatile PG's in the league being so dominate, we'd need a PG to be able to guard these guys. We can't just focus on the offense here. Rondo wouldn't be an ideal fit for the Triangle, but he'd be a great defensive addition to the team.

I think we need to get a big before we get a PG though. It seems like the Triangle isn't nearly as effective as it would be if we had a legitimate big that can get east points in the post. I really believe that's the reason why we're struggling to score in this offense. We don't have someone to draw attention to the post and create opportunities for the players in the perimeter to move around and find open shots. It also would help if we had someone who could consistently attack the rim. Life would be so much easier if we had that right now.

Why do you guys think the Spurs do so well running their motion offense? They have an inside post presence and they have players who attack the basket to open up the perimeter.
Yeah a big that can pass is a must. Playing inside-out is the best way to win consistently.

exactly. some of you guys are too attracted to names. yeah, rondo would be a great addition to the team, but not for the system we are running. regardless of how much each of us feel about the triangle, phil and fish run the team, so its here to stay.

rondo would be great on D and as someone that can attack the basket, but hes an offensive liability for the triangle, because he cant shoot.

id much rather go after dragic.

So the fact phil had 2 top 10 players during his finals runs and none were pg's means you need a pg that can shoot to be able to run the triangle effectively :lol :{

If Phil can't fix this team, we're doomed.
I know yall didn't expect a turn around in one season :lol

In the back of my head since ppl kept looking too FA after this season I was thinking that this season could be a throwaway given what we could put together.
Not at all, just saying that if Phil doesn't work we're doomed.:lol

This season is definitely a throwaway.

no one says nor thinks we run the triangle every single possesion. dont be a smartdumb ***. so you think we'll just sub rondo every time we dont wanna run the triangle?

tell me what fisher, paxson, and kerr all had in common when the triangle was successful? they can all hit the 3. rondo cannot. so judging by past years success, and multiple championships with that type of PG, i think continuing the process makes sense. but then again think we run the triangle every single possession.

Did the bulls have a post presence?

I thought you need a post presence for the triangle to be effective

Theirs something called making adjustments, fish can easily fit the triangle with rondos style of play, just because phil never had a top 10 pg doesnt mean rondo cant be effective in the system but like i said yall put too much emphasis in this triangle bs

we do need a big and id rather pay monroe than gasol because of age and rather have dragic over rondo because he can actually shoot. i just dont understand the fixation on rondo. hes not the only pg out there.

Rondo can do everything but shoot. He can fit in the triangle. Best PG in the game. No one has his skill, strength, competitiveness or intelligence on the court.

Dudes already caught amnesia of what rondo is capable of doing :{

stop being so damn passive aggressive and call me out instead of saying "dudes".

wtf cares what rondo is capable of. youre the type of fan that just cares about names and popularity vs how those players will actually fit well within the system. dragic and rondo are both upgrades from our current pg, but why not sign the one that fits better?

Nah since paxson, fish & kerr hit big shots lets put dragic in that same role, a pg who needs the ball in his hands to be effective :rolleyes

bruh im just gonna let you be. this passive aggressive **** is too juvenile for me. try to understand basketball instead of just watching it.

Dragic is a very good PG that can hit open shots, attack the rim and get to the free throw line. BUT he's not the best defensive PG out there. The bigger/stronger PG's in the league will have their way around him. That's my only problem with him.

Chris Paul?

CP3 is heavily romanticized as the best PG in the league, but year-after-year he falls on his face and fails miserably to get his team to the NBA Finals. Even when he fails, he never seems to get any of the blame or catch heat for it.

Rondo is a winner and has been to the big stage more than once. I question CP3's grit as well.

CP3 is obviously the better offensive player though. But something tells me Rondo would lock him up and destroy him mentally if push came to shove.
