2015 NY Knicks offseason thread, Los Almighty appreciation thread

I think eventually Shump will be the primary ball handler for the team, even with Jose back. He will be in a Ron Harper role and if he is good then I don't see Phil going for Rondo, or any other "true" elite point guard.

when shump was a rook he used to play a little pg and was actually decent... i liked his game more because he would take it to the basket more but the knee injury has changed him and he hasnt been the same since

I like Marc Gasol, I'd want him on the team. But I don't think he'd fit with Melo. Honestly, it's really hard to find people to fit with Melo.

So I'd rather have Rondo.

how doesn't Gasol fit with Melo but a ball dominant point guard does? don't you remember the Lin experiment and how those two struggled to play together?

That had more to do with d'antoni & the lack of chemistry

I think melo is at that point in his career where hes willing to sacrifice his game for wins, i dont see how he cant fit with any player

Just don't think he does, he's a big that occupies the same space that Melo does on offense - In the post and elbow area. How about the Amare & Melo experiment? How'd that work?

Rondo should never be compared to anything Jeremy Lin did - but Rondo would be a better fit for the team overall. He run's an offense and and he can create when he slashes towards the basket. No one drives to the rim on this team, Rondo can at least bring that to the table plus you know he's going to find the open man.

if zbo can mesh with gasol, melo can too

& i like how you ignored amares health with that "amare & melo experiment"

Thats not melos fault

Melo's not Z-Bo and Z-Bo's not Melo.

Stop catching feelings, even in Amare's "healthy" days it never looked right on the court. You know that, stop making excuses.

But they both "operate out the post & elbow area" whats the difference :lol

& in amare "healthy" days a depleted roster is never gonna look good even if you had jordan on the court

But let me be in my feelings :{

Triangle or not, I dont understand how adding Rondo would make this team worse.

He'd be the perfect PG for this scrub *** team and if we had a chance to get him I wouldnt think twice.

If Melo could play with Tyson Chandler he could play with Marc Gasol. Gasol at the elbow could play high low with Melo down low. He could hit Melo cutting to the basket or running base line to the corner 3. There's so much Gasol could do with Melo in this system to be compatible. They could play a little two-man game with Melo as a ball handler and Gasol rolling to the basket. So much they could do.

I love Dragic, but if THJ is our future SG I gotta go with Rondo at the 1.

Monroe or Gasol absolutely needs to happen though.

Not trying to stir the nest, but of course Melo and Amare didn't quite look right, but for several reasons, both are ball dominant, cool, but they are ball dominant in the same area so they kind of cancel each other out/get in each other's way, hence why Phil said that the pairing looked "clumsy". It would've looked better had we had a better coach, instead we had Antoni who's offense was basically whoever gets the ball is the offense, and Sn offense was whoever has the ball, hold it, then get it to Melo. I believe if there was a competent coach and not as many injuries it would have been a lot better. It's working out now because there is a system and they don't share the court for ridiculous amounts of time.

Rondo, if we can get him then you get him, you don't turn a talent like that down, but if there was ever a time to get him it would've been when Amare was healthy and Melo first got here, I think we could've won with that. He's a great pg to have, but he isn't absolutely necessary, Dragic would work just as well, even a slightly above average point guard would work for this system. Rondo probably gets the nod for most people because of his defense, so pairing him with Shump would give backcourts fits.

I see us getting Monroe over Gasol because Monroe wouldn't require as much money and he would be as effective for as long if not longer because of the age and he's been pretty much injury free his young career as Gasol has some miles/ injuries on him. If the team is going to rebuild then start with pieces without miles/injuries. Plus I think Memphis throws the bank at Gasol and I think he'd take it because they have a winning system in place now. My two pennies.

I really don't care who we get, as long as they're an all star (Gasol, Rondo, etc.)  or a high level player (Dragic, Monroe, etc.)

i feel like marc could come here to win in NY since pau won in LA
