What I'm not understand is how everyone keeps insisting that Boston is going to get Jon Lester back next year. It might happen, but people realize that he is already 30 years old and the Sox usually do not get into long term contracts?

He is going to want a ton of $, but I think that money could be spent wisely elsewhere.

i don't think anyone with half a brain actually believes that we will resign him. would have happened already. and the price is only going to rise from here on out.

Lester is a great pickup but it's just odd to deal their clean up hitter.

IMO, I think it's all about what kinda discount he'll give the Sox. IDK I see what you're saying though and it's all valid. I think open market, he gets 6/$120 at least...he'll give Boston a discount on years/money...so maybe 5/$95?
