I mean that's obviously the idea but is he any good? Is he close to coming up? Can he hit at all? Is he a lock to stay at short?

I liked Souza as well. He could've proven to be very valuable since two of our starting outfielders are injury prone. However, Trea Turner apparently will be a stud. Guy has 80 speed according to some scouts and hit well right out of college during a stint in A ball and in the AFL. He was the Padres first round pick last year. Joe Ross is also a solid depth move, and he's another 1st rounder. Pretty good haul for Souza.

He's the future at SS, whether that's in 2016 or 2017 isn't known yet.

Much appreciated the only thing I could find on him was on baseball America (subscription I don't have) and some pre draft stuff that basically said he's very fast decent fielder ehh hitter and a decent eye. I just wanted something more recent.

I was very nervous coming in to this off season with so many guys heading into their walk year but it looks like we are gonna hold onto them for a last run with this core and we've taken a couple of steps towards finding replacements for the future.

Hope we somehow sign Zimmerman tho.

With the addition of Turner, I feel that the Nats are gonna turn their focus to signing Zimmermann long term and letting Desmond walk.

I know it seems like Rizzo would much rather resign him then trade him so I'm all for running it back and trying to get that chip

Every writer I have read says we did great in this deal but they're all down Souza. I just feel like he's gonna be annoyingly good in a Ben zobrist sort of way

If this trade isn't finalized JRoll is stuck in Philly for a little while longer and Kemp's people and the Dodgers are gonna go after the Padres for violating HIPPA cause the info more than likely leaked from their side.

The Dodgers were supposed to get Zach Eflin from the Padres as part of the Kemp deal, then send him to the Phillies as part of the Rollins deal. The Rollins to Dodgers deal will probably still happen but it would have to be reworked.

My bad its HIPAA not HIPPA but HIPAA is a health act all about health insurance and crap. But it also has a privacy part that says you can't release or disclose someones medical records without their consent. All of these baseball reporters are saying the Padres people leaked the info about Kemp's hips as a way to get more money out of the Dodgers which would be a violation of HIPAA. Basically if he wanted, Kemp could sue and the Padres could face a separate fine from the gov't.

HIPAA is a law for medical privacy, you cant release details of someones health without their consent. Major violation if someone leaked his hip arthritis to the media/public. And if its just for leverage thats straight up cold

what sucks is that if the trade falls apart, now we get stuck with Kemp and we obviously can't bring him back next year with all that went down so far. With Matt's sensitive self it's starting to look like LO in the CP3 trade all over again
