Because it's a not garbage league. If it was, the league would have folded right after Beckham retired. The league has developed such players like Yedlin, Cameron, Castillo, and many other youngsters to play at Europe.
Half of today's USMNT were MLS players and drew a very good Mexican side.
A garbage league would be the Scottish Prem or A League.
You can say that the MLS is very average soccer, but trash it is not.

Cut the season by about 20 games.. max 3 games per week for teams.. no back to backs.. move the start of the season back to late November

he mentioned adding a week, to supposedly spread some games out
