Why? He has nothing to gain doing this. He issued his apology time to just sit and see what the league does
If anything what he & the chiefs should have done was way back when issued a statement saying they were made aware of an incident that took place involving kareem and they are handling it in house. Then Kareem follow it up with an apology.

Yup.. do all the PR stuff.. 6-8 game suspension from the team.. classes or training or whatever.. and then doing some sort of community service related stuff
Get out ahead of everything.. hire some serious PR people who can spin the whole he's sorry but dealing with the race stuff was alot even though that's not an excuse, just something to at least sympathize people to him to some degree

So what else can he say right now thats going to change anything or anyone's pov of him?
Theyre going to ask: what happened, what did he tell the team, did he know there were cameras, what would/should he have done differently, has he learned anything from this, does he have anything to say to the country/fans/the girl involved

These are all softballs if he's really sorry. Tomorrow can really help him if he handles it right. If not, I agree, it's a mistake; however, this happened in February...If he ain't sorry by now and can't demonstrate that, he never will be in terms of salvaging his image during his careers prime.
