2020-21 NBA Offseason thread: Officially a wrap

Man what a year of basketball we've had

We eventually need to start pointing the finger at Harden. Coach killer, no one wants to play with him. He really got the modern day era Melo reputation.
Looking at the guy who's first team all nba and top four in mvp voting every year and saying he's a problem when people are legit playing terrible around him while simultaneously crying for more usage is crazy.

For all his contributions to the bad culture he goes out there and backs it up with his play. No one else besides he and Tucker do that.

im not a fan of james harden, but if he didn't run into the buzzsaw that was the warriors the narrative of his career would be different.

that '17-'18 rockets team could've beat the Cavs
It'd be a strange reality tbh. He'd have a ring doing things his way and maybe CP stays? Maybe CP keeps masking that style of play and they're able to still compete with GSW?

Or does that style of play wear on the team regardless and they flame out the same way but at least they get 1 ring. imo that was a ticking time bomb having hindsight

Harden definitely deserves his blame too, but at the end of the day he's a perennial MVP candidate. Russ has been a downright bad to awful playoff basketball player ever since KD left him. -4 net rating in 2017, -6 in 2018, -12 in 2019, and -17 this past year. Harden has never been remotely that bad.

The Harden/CP pairing was definitely the best they had. Unfortunately things didn't work out. Sucks for them. Healthy CP is leaps and bounds better than Westbrook though.

I know it's been beat to death but I never knew why exactly Harden wanted Paul gone so bad?

Lol he lost to the Spurs and the Lakers during his peak as well. He just isn't good enough.

Who IS good enough though? LeBron, Curry, KD, and Kawhi only? One of them has been on the championship team for each of the last 9 years. You don't have one of those guys, you don't win. Period.

The only type of player Harden hasnt played with yet is an elite big. He's had teams catered to his style of play, just cant over the hump.

Harden only cares about his stats and getting MVPs his bastardized play of ball has alienated every good teammate he's had. His best friend don't even wanna play with him anymore. He's had every opportunity to excel in different situations where it's mattered most and overwhelmingly he underachieved no matter what opponent he's had to face. To continue to try and defend him is just folly. He needs somebody who's better than he is to be the number 1 guy on a team and a coach that will hold him accountable. That's never happened in Houston not do I believe he wants it to.
