2020-21 NBA Offseason thread: Officially a wrap

Also, if I were the Nets, I would/ should also consider Harden for Kyrie. that would be a no brainer to me. But that would piss off KD...

Patiently waiting for Sheriff Jim to pull up to the Toyota center home opener undressed like

Harden needs to leave the arena mid-game like AD did stick the fork in it.

Think you’re glossing over the importance of the Rockets building their philosophy around Harden; basically making Jim their system. That significantly limits the number of players you can bring in because not everyone is going to fit/want to play in that system.
Right. Harden's been given literally everything he could've wanted in Houston.

He's pushed to fire at least one coach. He's pushed Dwight Howard and Chris Paul out of town. He's quite literally been given the keys to the kingdom, and got a nice, fat $170m deal in the process.

Ultimately, when it's nut cutting time in the playoffs, he hasn't been good enough. And that's back to Oklahoma City, too. He shrinks.

Forreal. And James Harden has turned in a couple of EPIC meltdown performances and was almost a part of another one until a couple of those subpar teammates like Josh Smith and Corey Brewer saved him.

So, many.....SO MANY intricacies to that lol.

A lot of this is dumb, media driven nonsense. All I’m saying is, the energy around how the media is reacting and has been reacting to the Clippers has been weird.

They goofed, but a lot of the **** is od. It got some real, “stay in your place” vibes.

That's how the media works. This is the same media that was calling them the 96 Bulls and talking about how they had a team full of playoff killers and tough guys. Clippers bought into their own hype and now they gotta deal with it.

he pushed to fire Kevin McHale, who hasn't coached since then because he's a bad coach. Has he even been interviewed?
he pushed dwight howard out of town, who is now on his 5th team in 5 seasons.
he pushed chris paul out of town, who at the time of the trade was viewed as the worst contract in basketball because he was getting 40Ms and couldn't score on Jonas Jerebko or Kevon Looney.

Pretending like the rockets haven’t surrounded James harden with the right amount of talent is just not true

where is this wealth of talent the rockets surrounded James with?

"he's had good teams for a decade" because he's been on the team for a decade, not because the rockets have surrounded him with some great level of talent. he had 1 year of decent dwight and 1 good year of chris paul, and russ during the covid season. his best teammates after that have been trevor ariza, eric gordon, pj tucker, ryan anderson.

But that's what he wanted. Because of his style of play you can't just put him with another equal level player. He wants to dominate the ball, get his 50 pt triple doubles, don't adjust in the playoffs. If you put him with another dude that can create and score Harden would have to work of the ball, something he's terrible at. CP3 tried to hold him accountable he ain't want it. He forced that Russ trade and that was a mess of course. I really want to see what is he gonna look like with Kyrie and KD. I don't know if son wanna go back to that 3rd man type of role. I think he just likes the idea of teaming up with them.

Is Ranger Jim a good teammate? Can't recall any of his current or former teammates speaking on him. but doesn't really pass the eye test.

I felt like James Harden did Kevin McHale dirty. They had reached the west finals for the first time since 1997 under Kevin McHale and then the next season after a rough start and a outings with Khloe Kardashian, he used his flex and gets Kevin McHale fired.

The Houston Rockets have been to the conference finals 2 whole times during James Harden's tenure (would have been 3 if it weren't for him)

I'm sure there are several stars who wouldn't want to hear jack **** about James Harden not having enough to get it done compared to their situations

How do we know that Harden can't play with another great player? It's just assumed that he couldn't play with guys like Bron, Giannis, Kawhi, KD, AD, Curry, etc? Seems odd.

His teams had depth and shooters/ versatile defenders to make up for his deficiencies. They had a number of productive nba players.

None of these guys he played with, were seen as not good or not contributing to a good team. Harden did the heavy offensive lifting for sure, but he was surrounded by good casts throughout most of his Houston stint. They just came up short, in their small championship window.

That is ok man :lol

People forget this too. Dude got benched Game 6 by McHale because he was trash and then we came back :hat . Epic comeback by the backups too
