2022 NBA Offseason Thread: Preseason kicks off; Things are fine in Los Angeles, Draymond beats the charges

Thinking any player or team doesn’t have an ego is wild. All of them. Every one of them.
I agree.
Being an athlete in this very competitive organisation, one really needs an ego and an acute sense of self esteem.
But they really be saying anything when it comes to that team

Nah this all Draymond. It’s always him. Same dude that ran KD off. Several run ins with Kerr. The nut punches. The unnecessary techs. Again not getting along with teammates and coaches happens but he’s always in the center of these things. Hard to think Poole got any less humble cause he ain’t never been humble. Then the iggy tweet.

And Draymond is disgusting for running to Haynes. He gotta sit down
It’s 100% on Dray. More importantly, and hopefully this doesn’t get lost, this is not necessarily a bad thing.

Bryant summoned Draymond Green to pass along a much more pointed message. "He's the one that has to keep his finger on the nerve with this team, because it can get lax, it can get comfortable, and I think he's the one that's going to have to create that conflict, that tension in the locker room, because if they don't have that, then in the playoffs, then they are going to be in trouble," Bryant said of Green. "He's got to give them that conflict."

“We’re not a crazy group, and you need a little crazy,” Kerr says. “The Bulls needed Dennis Rodman. The Spurs needed Stephen Jackson. I have a potty mouth, so when Draymond and I go back and forth, there’s some ‘Hey, f--- you. No, f--- you.’ The other guys are like, ‘Oh, s---.’ But that conflict—between Draymond and me, Draymond and the opponent, Draymond and the ref, Draymond and the world—gives us our edge.”

If you’re not playing a character and your emotions are authentic, occasionally you’re gonna cross the line.

It happens, apologize, and move forward. Which is exactly what will happen here.

Nah man Steph and Klay take shots no other 2 humans ever could take. Draymond gets 9 fouls and 4 techs off the bus. Them boys probably got the biggest egos in the league.

Didn't Kobe tell Kyrie something similar about being the one to "stir tension" on the team to keep everyone on their toes because Lebron won't?

Scotto: I spoke with four NBA executives this week about the Ime Udoka situation in Boston. Each of those four executives told HoopsHype they don’t think Udoka will return as coach of the Boston Celtics after his yearlong suspension is done.

Weiss: That’s the consensus. I haven’t had anyone in the organization tell me they don’t think he’s coming back. I feel like they’re moving on with that expectation and that the reason for a suspension is more about whatever legal processes are happening right now rather than they genuinely want to reassess it in the future. I’m sure there is some degree of uncertainty whether or not they would bring him back. I don’t think it’s like he’s fired, and it’s set in stone, and that’s it. I’m sure there’s some evaluation that has to be done at some point, but it seems so unlikely that he would come back.

Scotto: Two other questions I’m brainstorming are if there’s a shot he can be coaching somewhere else after this season and what does this mean for the future of Jaylen Brown, who was in trade talks this summer for Kevin Durant? Remember, Ime Udoka is fond of Durant from their time together when Udoka was an assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets.

Weiss: Brooklyn is the most obvious destination here for him (Udoka) if they want to keep that team together and want to move on from Steve Nash. What’s really interesting about this is what if Nash gets fired during the season and Ime is the guy for that job? What happens then? Maybe that’s part of the reason why he isn’t fired yet and is suspended. Maybe the Celtics would like to trade him. That would be really fascinating.

I remember this

“You have to be true to who you are and authentic, and I think every team should have that lightning rod because the happy-go-lucky stuff doesn’t work, I don’t care what anybody says. You have to have that inner-conflict, you have to have that person that’s really driving these things. From the Cavs perspective, it’s hard for me to tell from afar who should be that person.

LeBron’s not that person.

He brings people together, that’s what he does naturally and he’s phenomenal at it, but you have to have somebody else that’s going to create that tension. Maybe it’s Kyrie.”

Cs looked pretty good last night against Toronto til the end of bench blew the game. Don’t look to have missed a beat and solidified the (rotational) bench. 9 assists for Brogdon and 22 points with 5 3s from Hauser.

I posted this in the Lakers thread but thought it’s worth a shot posting here also:

I have nba tv but last night lakers/suns game was blacked out because I’m in California. What’s the best way to watch games when this happens? I have YouTube TV btw.

In New York I had the MSG station that I can turn to to watch Knicks games. Is there similar for lakers and clippers game?

Would probably move Luka to 3/4. Kawhi is a TBD.

Otherwise, the list looks good.

I dig it with Linny, people treat minorities badly then want to say they're crying when they speak on it. Basically "you mad"
