You talking about the team where Tony Allen was going to get revenge on the Warriors for having Bogut “guard” him by leaving him wide open? And disrespecting his jump shot? And changing that series completely?
Also, had Marc Gasol playing point guard when Conley got hurt or went to the bench because they had no backup PG.

If so, I’ll take the current Grizzlies.

Grindhouse Grizzlies are better than this overachieving team. I don’t think it’s close either.

Can’t agree with any of this. It’s less dudes coming from rough backgrounds because our economic standing has improved over the last 30-40 years. That should be applauded. The game is still the game. poor kids have the same opportunities middle class kids do. When you’re nice in elementary school, someone looks out for you. You don’t pay for anything on a traveling team regardless of how much your parents have. That’s how you get noticed. Kids with all the economic advantages in the world don’t make it everyday, B. Look at shareef O’Neal.

I know dudes that hooped their way out of the hood into the NBA. I know dudes that come from good homes that hooped their way into the NBA. The game doesn’t care about your background. If you got it, you’ll get there.

Economic standing overall as a population has not improved, now if you're talking about for these specific prospects than yes, for example Dajuan Wagner played for Camden High and actually lived there growing up, he has his son DJ Wagner playing at Camden High still but due to the money Dajuan made from his NBA career although cut short they live in a nice big house not in Camden. Similar situation with Jabari Smith Jr. due to Jabari Smith Sr. nba career etc.

Again this is progress. But like I said, poverty isn’t stopping an nba talent from becoming an nba player.

No not saying it'll stop but a higher economic barrier of entry will lower the clip of kids coming from those backgrounds making it to the top

It’s a low barrier of entry to the NBA in general. And even Bron’s story of poverty isn’t even like that to a certain point. People took him when they realized his mom was struggling. Largely because he had extreme talent. Which is why I’m saying poverty isn’t the basketball issue it used to because people see the $ in grassroots sports.

The last link where it talks about Bron not supposed to be here was always just an ad to me.

Remember when that commercial came out Cowherd said when Bron was in the 6th grade an AAU ref stopped him in an airport in Cincinnati and told him about Bron. Said he was told he would be top 5 of all time. David Aldridge said that when Joe Dumars was in the Pistons front office they were already talking about Bron in the 8th grade.

You have no idea who Dajuan Wagner's dad is do you?

Just wish we’d stop equating, being from the hood = hard, tough, etc and being from the suburbs = soft

I know plenty dudes from the hood who ran from fights, and I know plenty of dudes from the suburbs/great homes who will stand in the paint and throw hands with no hesitation…

Being from the “trenches” does not automatically make you tough

willingness is huge.. but a whole lotta dudes don’t know how to properly throw punches anyhow, look at the NBA fights we use to see

dudes be winding up and throwing wild haymakers.. at least with them hockey dudes even in skates on ice you know they squaring up and getting some actual power behind their punches

they be worrying what environments these hockey dudes come from?

running is the same thing.. most folks think they doing it right and jsut spinning their wheels and not maximizing power and energy

Milt Wagner, Louisville Great and played in the NBA, but the NBA salaries of that eras were really nothing to speak about if you weren't a Star in which he wasn't. His NBA career earnings were miniscule compared to Dajuan's.

He played professionally until 99 and then got into coaching. He certainly would fit into the middle class bracket

A total of 4 pro seasons with 2 in the NBA during the late 80s, they were not paying like that during that era, def not enough to be upper middle class

Cal hooked up Milt with a staff position in the early 2000s.

There's no way to pull the salaries from that but just like NBA salaries were a lot lower it was the same in the other leagues at that time, the basketball economy/markets just didn't explode yet and aren't comparable to recent yrs

Lower than Motorsports, Golf, Tennis and other affluent sports yes. But higher than Boxing, Football, Track and field in america

So...because you can't pull salaries from back then...you assume they MUST have been so low that a 13 year professional basketball player couldn't provide a middle class surrounding for his family :smh:

I've always said UPPER middle class. NBA minimum was like $70k during that time so i can safely assume the other leagues overseas were lower than that if you weren't some major star

I was rooting heavy for dude to do well in the league and it just never happened.

His hoopmixtape vids. :pimp:

Same, I thought for sure he had next. Was also rooting for the Kings because I loved the CWebb days. Too bad that was his peak.
