Gotta put this into context.
Kyrie quarterbacked them to a #2 seed that year w/o Hayward and got hurt right before the playoffs. They drew a Bucks team with Giannis not at 100% of his mutant capabilities yet, a team with Ben Simmons on it, and then they took Bron + Jeff Green to 7 games.
They weren't necessarily "better" without him. If he gets hurt in the middle of the season and not the end, they probably are a 7/8 seed that year.
Now what happened the next year is absolutely a demonstration of why Kyrie shouldn't/can't be the leader of a team.
