2024 MLB Thread; RIP Willie Mays & Pete Rose. Dodgers win #8!

Still nervous about the Trout injury. Wasn’t KD’s achilles tear originally reported as a calf strain? He refused to talk to reporters yesterday, too :(

Achilles tears are rare in baseball. I think I've seen it twice. Not that it can't happen, but I'd be surprised given his build. Usually happens to the lankier dudes.

Stolen Base attempts are one of the most exciting plays in baseball. Doesn't matter if you're rooting for or against the runner, there's often something magnificent about the steal or the catcher's throw.

The High-A chart sample size is still small but if the CS% remains under 30% then why not try it more often? If it becomes a bigger part of the game again, more guys would have jobs just as steal specialists too. Love it.

I think analytics determined that the reward wasn’t worth the risk. Similar to the sacrifice bunt. But like you said, if you can move the CS% in favor of the runner, we’ll start seeing more steals. I like that they’re trying to make the game more exciting.

bring steals back (by tweaking rules)
Stop pitchers from cheating like Bauer
Regulate the shift

change 2 or all 3 and runs/excitement/ratings will go up without having to juice the ball again. I’ll sit through 4 hours of that.
