The gap between Triple-A, minors overall, and the Bigs is as wide as ever due to COVID last year. A lot of these prospects really lost a year of development and essentially just scrimmaged at alternate sites last year. Also with most MLB orgs being so cheap, the only type of training Minor Leaguers get is during Spring Training and during the regular season. A lot of these guys get side jobs and are left to work out in whatever gym they can find in the offseason.
With most Minor Leaguers losing out on a year of training and competitive play, while Big Leaguers at least got something last season and could afford higher end training in the offseason, I'm not sure how MLB expected results to be different.

The support from his team mates is a beautiful thing. It says a lot about DeGrom but also the team chemistry.
Bauer and DeGrom are nothing alike, on and off the field.
