2024 MLB Thread; RIP Willie Mays & Pete Rose. Dodgers win #8!

 That Garret Cole response.

Josh Donaldson knows he would try to get any edge he could on a pitcher but I still love player beef :smokin

I will continue to say this... MLB is just weird in that it is the one sport where balls and substances are completely different every couple years. We have juiced balls and HR records. Then we have all time pitching records. Next year I'm sure the ball will be back to juiced. It's classic stuff...but very weird for a pro sport many people think is falling behind for various reasons including pace, lack of offense, etc.

Whether we like them or not, every American sport adjusts their rules to favor more offense for the viewer. MLB is going to have to figure this out and fall in line and stay there.

agreed, but can a team of mid-30s sustain that type of success come October ?
That's the big question for this year's team. Offense-wise, I think they can sustain. But their bullpen needs to get stronger if they push for the playoffs.

He hasnt been good even when playing.

Haven't watched as many M's games but I felt like Kyle Lewis definitely wasn't bad before he got hurt, especially for this season's standards. They just shouldn't have popped him back in CF so soon or at all, I always felt he was a corner outfielder. Seemed like he was starting to hit decently before going down, that lineup is just terrible. Poor Seattle fans...

Yeah he had a slow start (coming off IL) Then picked it up after 10 games or so only to fall back on the IL

I had him on my fantasy team so I was paying very close attention. Cant speak for his defense obviously, but he was pretty bad offensively the entire time he was off the IL.

Judge rejects conservative attempt to force MLB to move All-Star Game back to Atlanta

Major League Baseball will not be forced to move its 2021 All-Star Game back to Atlanta after a federal judge denied an injunction request to make them do so, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

U.S. District Judge Valerie Caproni reportedly made her decision from the bench after a two-hour hearing involving MLB, the MLB Players Association and the Job Creators Network, which filed its lawsuit at the end of May.

The lawsuit alleged that MLB had "robbed the small businesses of Atlanta — many of them minority-owned — of $100 million" and demanded the All-Star Game take place in Atlanta on July 13. The JCN, founded by Home Depot co-founder and prominent Donald Trump supporter Bernie Marcus, also sought $1 billion in punitive damages.

I think the MLB should look into letting pitchers use whatever substance they’re using and bring back the juiced balls from last year. Feels like the best of both worlds would be great to see.
