You know what, I can see how that was taken wrong and I apologize. I assure you I didn't mean to offend anyone.
I only said that because 2011 Concords introduced a new wave of "sneaker heads" (emphasis on sneaker heads and not sneaker collectors) into the culture. This new wave didn't have a lot of the understandings of the past collectors who were collecting a decade before them and laid down the blueprint for how the shoe game is today. In the past, there was the whole "rock and stock" mentality. Buy one to wear, buy one to collect. There are PLENTY of OG collectors who have DS collections (DependableJay, pevault, SoleSupreme, etc.). Wearing shoes isn't that big of a deal to me. I am not a sneaker head, I am a COLLECTOR. I don't say this to try and sound cool either. I'm only clarifying why I said what I said. Again, I apologize if I rubbed anybody the wrong way.
Those Ferraris are 26+ years old with under 10K miles. The McLaren is 7 years old with only 520 miles. 9 times out of 10, these vehicles are owned by COLLECTORS. There are people who buy things to collect and have zero intent on actually using them as they're intended to be used. This isn't just for shoes and cars. I know someone who collects guns. They have 200+ guns and may have only fired 30 or so. I know someone who collects guitars that cost $2K+ each and some of them he's never played. My step father collects money. Plenty of coins and rare dollars that he chooses not to spend. People who buy game worn jerseys and hang them on the wall. I know of another local guy who buys every single game system ever created, every color, everything. He does not play his NES or Dreamcast, he just collects them. He has a $200K game room. My only point in this drawn out explanation is plenty of stuff can be collected. My 2012+ statement meant this wasn't something that had to be explained to people who were collecting before 2012. However, I now see I could've worded it better without offending others or sounding like I'm on a pedestal and for that, I again apologize. Let's be clear, I don't feel I'm more "superior" than anybody else because of tenure in the game. No matter if we collect or wear our sneakers, at the end of the day we're all here for the same reason, our love for shoes.
