Great season that we all experienced! Stay positive as we Move forward looking towards to Next year pending the new CBA. We've got nothing to hold our heads down for. Didn't win the Chip but I'm still very proud of our Miami Heat team!
Eastern Conference Champs isn't the best Consolation Prize but it's a great starting point for next year. Lets get there again!

EasternConferenceChamps.jpg

Losing hurts of course but we'll be better and more prepared the next time around!

Keys and points for improvement:

-Quality Big Man of course

-A point Guard that can give Bron and Wade an opportunity to work without the ball

-KEEP CHALMERS and UDONIS!

List of Current and soon to be Free Agents:

Key ETO = Early Termination Option; P = Player Option; T = Team Option

thoughts guys?

Chalmers is probably gone. Someone is going to overpay him.

Cut all of the fat off the roster. The majority of the vets they brought in can't play for crap anymore.

Two guys I would target: Aaron Brooks and Sam Dalembert.

Keep the three stars, draft Nolan Smith, re-sign Mario Chalmers /James Jones, sign Samuel Dalembert, don't return phone calls to Mike Bibby/Erick Dampier/Juwan Howard, find a way to get out of the Mike Miller contract (amnesty clause?) and get healthy for another run.

I think LeBron is in a situation where he's just mentally not there. I just heard Skip suggest a sports psychologist and that makes 100% sense to me. He needs to rearrange his priorities so that basketball and winning championships comes first. Funny thing is, the only trade that would ever make sense for either of those two players would be for one another but I don't think it could ever happen. The Miami Heat can win with the 3 that they have in place, they just all need to be focused on the same goal.
LeBron James has a lot of weaknesses in his game that he needs to focus on this offseason. I think it's safe to say that if he is even 75% of the player that we once knew that the Heat would be focusing on a game 7 right now if not having already hoisted that trophy. He just was not there this entire series.
The answer to this whole situation lies within Pat Riley though. Eric Spoelstra is a good enough coach but I don't think he's going to be able to bring out the beast in these players. I mean we literally sat there yesterday and the place was disgusted every time Bron let one of the Mavs guards scare him out of scoring. There were glimmers of hope when it seemed like he'd just get frustrated and bogard his way through for a layup but it just wasnt enough. If you know they can't stop you from going to the rim I don't understand why you'd be content with passing off to a much lesser talent. Like I said yesterday, when you have minutes until you go home empty handed that ball should not be cycling through ANY former MVP's hands. That's something that's going to have to be reawakened within him.

Lebron's season does not begin unless he is in the finals again next year....everything else doesn't matter anymore

We need Centers and a point guard. Riley's probably going to draft them and maybe sign one free agent center. This CBA should be interesting.

I'd take a more savvy vet like Anthony Carter. Get rid of the entire bench as they were just filler anyway. We need contributors not the scrubs we had this year. Bye to House, Dampier, Z, Magloire, Bibby. These guys truly added very little. On the fence with James Jones. Miller needs to get healthy or retire. We really need at least one serviceable point guard and two big bodies to throw around at the C or PF positions. They just need to be able to rebound and defend.

This year we had nobody who could make the other teams alter their shots. A bonus would be to have a high energy player who would come in and throw themselves around like Von Wafer has done in the past (just not consistently).

I pretty much agree with P.

I think the Heat will have a hard time resigning Chalmers though.

This, right there.

Marcus Banks would be an interesting fit in my opinion from NO. He's an unrestricted free agent and a guard that can create his own shots. Whether or not he can materialize into a solid PG is something that remains to be seen. Also, while talking to my homie CAto312 yesterday after the game, he brought up a good point about Aaron Brooks whom is also a Free agent restricted however, and how this could be an opportunity for him to flourish even further playing alongside Wade and Bron. A proven PG that can score and set players up as well. If you think about it, neither of the two has ever played alongside a top tier quality PG where they didn't have to have full command of the ball at most times. As much as I despise him, Rondo is a clear example of how his game elevated to the next level when the C's brought in KG and Jesus.

I don't think Miami needs that much more to be right back in the Finals, just get rid of some of the dead weight. But I truly think more than anything the zone defense KILLED yall and Spo failed to make adjustments.

I would love to see us acquire T-Mac he doesn't cost that much and is still a decent BBall player. Also he plays great defense.

NeNe or Samuel Dalembert.

re-sign Chalmers.

Love Mike Miller but he has to go. were wasting 6-7million a year on him use some of that money along with or mid-level exemption to get TMac and NeNe or Dalembert.

And if available it wouldn't hurt to re-sign James Jones and EHouse to the veterans minimum.

Not a Heat fan to begin with, but I honestly believe the first season was great aside from them failing in the playoffs. Considering their 9-8 start, to being 2-10 against top teams whatever it was, to Lebron not being able to close out games, Spo's job being critiziced, and Mike Miller's lack of production, and Udonis being out. This team is just a SMALL minor piece away. I say keep chalmers and get Dalembert or a big that can grab boards. Miller will bounce back his jumper was coming back to him. Haslem will be 100%.

No one can honestly say this team was gonna be in finals in the first year or be 1 game away from game 7. Everyone was choosing the Bulls or Celtics to take them out. If this first year is just their worse, then the rest will be nothing but titles or close to it

If the Heat can get A.I., keep eddie house and miller and chalmers, then find a real center... and its on.
did the heat have anyone who is 7ft on the roster?

no love for joel anthony? i think he deserves to stay in MIA along with udonis/chalmers. other than that including big 3 gotta go. nene would be nice along with aaron brooks? AI and tmac?

This
But it would be cool to resign the vets, I want Bibby and Z to get rings.

W/ that said, I think we should roll w/ Spo, but stick to the ball movement late in games unless any of the Big 3 have MATCH-UP ADVANTAGES. So if Chris Paul is on Bosh, throw it to Bosh so he can post, and so and so.

Joel isn't a free agent so he'll be a toss up either way. We lose nothing by keeping him or letting him go. Personally I say we keep him cause his effort and energy was amazing all year. As all the homies who have known since the beginning of training camp however, they'll all tell you that my loyalty still lies with Dexter Pittman. I've got unbelievable faith in that Kid and firmly believe he will be a factor for this team down the line one way or another!
EDIT- I stress again that I believe in Dexter Pittman ....

Excuse my ignorance, but what money will be used to sign any of those players?
They are going to be well above the existing cap with more restrictions probably coming in the new CBA.

They already used the MLE.

With all due respect and this isn't directed towards anyone either but, we've got enough Threads filled with ample sources of hate for this team. Although a lot of is warranted to some degree, let's just keep any form of that very hate in those threads and not in this one. This wasn't created with intentions of trolling and hatred; just simply an opening for discussion of our Heat team's Off-Season direction ...

P, I actually do like the idea of drafting Nolan Smith to an extent. He knows how to play defense and is an offensive threat as soon as he hits the league .... but, can he be a top tier not all-star per say, but top tier PG in this league is the question?

Where's Nolan Smith projected to go in the draft? Also...seems like most people want to see Mike Miller gone. IMO I would like to see 1 full year of him before I see him go. I think he's a solid player who can make open shots, defend(ehhh), and also rebound(dude is 6'

. Hope they can bring back Mario Chalmers as well.
