If you think that multiplying always comes before division, you MUST also agree that addition comes before subtraction.

With that being said, you MUST agree that 1-1+1= -1.  We all know that the answer to that equation is 1 not -1.  (MD and AS are equal in priority)

this is the problem, people who keep saying theyre a single term (2(9+3)) are adding parentheses that are unproven in order to restructure the problem

allow me to add some parentheses that dont need proving

No the problem then becomes 48 / 2 * (12). The parenthesis is only there to combine the 9+3. If the 48 wasn't there then you can combine 2 and 12.

Once 12 becomes 12 the parenthesis HAVE TO disappear. THERE IS NO PROOF of anyone keeping the parenthesis on any equation after its becomes an real number. You are trying to make up math.
