48÷2(9+3) = ???

Seen it yesterday and didn't think much of it...I thought the answer is 2.
Come back today and see 60+ pages

I stand CORRECTED!

I was working all-day to come back to this thread.

The answer is 288.

You have to read it Left to Right because it is all on one line. You can't assume there's a set of parenthesis that puts it in the denominator.

Math major reporting out. I agree with the Wolfram analysis.

Its a sad moment in NT history when a math thread goes for 60+ word to mcgrady in 02.
And I thought the thread about kanyes girl getting 25+ was ridiculous... was I wrong.

Personally I don't care if its two or 288. I passed math in hs/college and that's all that matters to me.

THE OFFICIAL ANSWER:

The question is undefinable.
Neither BEDMAS nor PEMDAS are fully applicable due to the linear fashion of the equation.
‎48/(2*(9+3))=2,
(48/2)*(9+3)=288.
Depends on whether (9+3) is in the numerator or denominator.

Answer: ∞

It's 288. If you don't know why, it can't be explained to you.

Einstein's a crackhead and doesn't know what he's talking about.
