90s Culture Appreciation vol. Intro

Starter jackets, Marvel/DC card collecting, super soakers and Nerf, going outside and actually seeing other kids playing in the streets, real anticipation for a wide variety of music (especially the variety in hip hop at that time), fantastic sitcoms, loved this era growing up. Man, though there's still a lot of current music I listen to, I don't wanna think about if the core of my music influence growing up was Fetty Wap, Ilovemakkoken, and a lazy underwhelming Jay-Z.

I love YouTube, but I blame them for drawing attention to and sustaining wack *** music from these wack *** artists.

By culture I meant influence. I was mesmerized when I saw MJ in the 11s on TV in the 4th grade. I began listening to rap music at the same time and noticed how popular kicks were in that segment.

Yes. No one collected back then. My mom didn't even get my kicks at retail. I beat the crap out of them since I was only allowed one pair per semester.

90s baby here...1990 to be exact. I know I was just a pup in the 90s but I remember a lot of great things from the decade. 90s tv, cartoons, movies, sports, fashion, and music were the GOAT!!!!!!!! Idc what anyway says 90s >>>>>>>>> any other decade. The only thing that has gotten better is technology.

Mike had FOX, MTV, BET, and VH1 on lock when it was time to premiere his short films. I remember watching "Black or White" and "Remember the Time" after the Simpsons. MTV had an "MJ Weekend" damn near every other week lol Good times...

Sports cards - upper deck, then fleet ultra.

Music videos weren't as convenient to access, so u appreciated it when it came on tv. My friend sometimes called me (at my home phone of course) to tell me when a specific video was on.

Clothing: Cross Colors, Guess overalls, Girbaud jeans, Z. cavaricci pants, UMEN clothing, Starter jerseys and parkas, FILA jackets

Shoes: Vans, Sperrys, Dr. Martens, Ellesse, Reebok pumps, Jordans

Music: DJ Quick (first time I ever heard  anyone cuss in a song), OG Dr. Dre and Snoop, Boyz II Men, ABC, BBD, TLC, SWV, All-4-One, Salt-N-Pepa

In the 97' everybody was on the WWF wave. Young or old, dudes knew bout Austin vs Mcmahon. Back when The Rock was us youngins hero and all dat. Back when The Undertaker used to make you hide under the blanket and all dat. Back when you was in elementary school going around doing the DX chops saying suck it and all dat. 

And the video games, who you tellin;  WWF War Zone, WWF Attitude, WWF WrestleMania 2000, WWF No Mercy, WWF Royal Rumble, and WWF SmackDown! Some was released in 2000 but the hell with that, it felt like the 90s. Playing them as soon as you woke up. Haven't washed up, pissed or nun. And getting them taking away for bad grades, 

Childhood was tight. Greatest era to be a kid.
