Willie D has said that Run-DMC made him want to rap. I can't remember who Scarface or Bushwick may have said off the top of my head, though.
Cross regional influence isn't something new in hip-hop. UGK said artists like Big Daddy Kane & Kool G Rap influenced them, New Orleans bounce was based, in part, on a record ("Triggerman") out of Queens, etc. and now you have an artist like Rocky who is infuenced by S.U.C.

Regional bias? Let it go.
